Around SBN: Off Tackle Empire interviews Rich Rodriguez

.133 -- NIce Job AROD

Alex Rodriguez --

Good performance by your hero Morris in this series.

Whether it was grounding into a double play at the most crticial time of the entire season in GAme 5 or booting a ball in the sixth inning of game 2 to allow Anaheim to tie and eventually win that game, A-rod has been the anti-Jeter.  Wherever A-rod goes losing follows.  Granted this is on a much grander team with a much higher room for error in player personnel moves, but A-rod has turned the greatest franchise in sports to a joke.

And I frankly couldn't be happier about.  Let New York continue to have the curse of A-rod.  It will just make it that much sweeter when the Rangers beat their ases as well.

Whatever the Yankees had as far as Magic goes back in the Tino, Brosius pre-2000 Yankees is long gone now that A-rod is running the team.

Once again people will make excuses for your so called MVP and once again the Yankees will be at home while someone else plays for the title.

I love it and I can't wait until the Rangers get a piece of A-rod's bitch ass in '05.

Let's Go Cards and White Sox.

Now that the Yanks are eliminated I want the Angels out.

anti jeter?
because jeter is clutch right?  and the yankees are so cursed making the playoffs both the years arod's been there.  i wish the rangers had that kind of bad luck.

Funny
I can't help but laugh at that nonsense.  Even with the "curse" of ARod the Yankees were in the playoffs 2 years in a row.  Did they win the WS?  No, but they hadn't won it for 3 years before he got there either.  Whose fault was that?

To hear a Rangers fan talk smack after the crap they have put on the field for the past 6 years is high comedy.  Thanks for laughs dude.

The "curse of Mike Young"
No team with Mike Young on it has ever made the playoffs.

Benjie Molina
>>>>>>>>>>ARod

Did you see the way he hit in this series? Plus he already has a WS ring. ARod is the anti-Molina.

How many times
How many times does AROD have to suck in the postseason before people start noticing a trend.

Small sample size my ass.  The guy chokes when it matters and has turned the tide on the Yankee franchise.

Mike Young may not have a world series ring but he doesn't have any postseason at bats.  I can gaurantee he can do better than .133 in a 5 game series.

A ROD for MVP my ass....

It's fitting you mention your ass so much
As it seems that is where most of your opinions come  from.

ARod's post season average coming into this year was .330.  His OPS was .987.  Last year, he carried the Yankees in the ALDS but I know that doesn't count in your mind.

And it's easy to guarantee what Mike Young would do in the postseason without ever having to back it up.

Nice of you to leave out this year
But I'll give you the numbers for his last 9 postseason games all the biggest of his career so far considering he is the supposed leader of the team and not just a part of the Mariners team:

5 games against Anaheim --

.133 / .200 / .435 with 0 RBIs and 5 strikeouts including a critical error in game 3.

Last 4 games against Boston in the biggest collapse in professional sports history --

Game 4 -- 1 for 5 1 HR
Game 5 -- 0 for 4 2 Srikeouts
Game 6 -- 1 for 4
Game 7 -- 0 for 4 1 STrikeout

.118 Batting Average for the last 4 games of that series.

Yep, AROD deserves no blame for the Yankees losing the last 2 years with the highest payroll in baseball history.

Who said...
A-Rod deserves no blame for the Yankees losing?

He played very poorly this series. Of course, he deserves SOME of the blame.

I left out this year for a reason
You had already mentioned it.

This reminds me of the OU-Texas thread from the weekend.  If ARod plays well, then those games aren't a big deal.  If he plays poorly, then those games are the biggest of his career.

Being a Texas grad
and considering I've been to ever TX/OU game since '97, I can use your analogy and it is a valid one if you are willing to compare Mack Brown and AROD.

Mack couldn't get it done against OU or failed in other big games including the big 12 title game for various reasons including problems of his own.  I think he took some criticism for it and rightfully so.  It looks like he has finally busted through with wins over Ohio St. (i was at this game as well) and OU FINALLY.  Now we haven't won anything yet, but Mack certainly has gotten over the hump.

I'm not saying AROD will never get the Yankees over the hump, but he definitely deserves his share of criticism when the Yankees fail, and they have failed the last two seasons by Yankees' standards.

ARod criticism
Of course he deserves some of the blame.  He played poorly in the ALDS this year.  The problem is that you are giving it ALL to him.

Blame
I never was giving all the blame to AROD.  I just wanted to get the AROD lovers fired up on this blog.

Mission accomplished I guess.

So,
you make gross over-generalizations and unsound logic to do it?

Sounds like you just wanted to get all LOGIC lovers fired up.

That's almost worse than wufdog.

Huh?
It's a blog about baseball.  We aren't dealing with national security.

Lighten up..

My purpose in posting here is to hopefully gain some more insight into the Rangers and baseball in general. What's the point in dealing with over-generalizations and sound logic?

In fact, what's the point in doing that at all? It leads to sloppy thinking and miscommunication which isn't really good in life, in general.

ARod 3rd highest Yankee playoff OBP.
with a .435.

I think it is funny that Matsui gets no criticism, yet he goes 0-5 and leaves 8 men on base last night.  That's a pretty bad night.

At least he admits it
I got to give credit to AROD for at least taking some accountability for his play in this ALDS.

This article also points out some other Yankees who didn't get it done against Anaheim.
