The Oracle on Millwood, and a poll

More opinions on the Millwood signing...

The Transaction Oracle is on board with the deal, noting that it is overpaying by a team that needs a Millwood to try to get it from a fringe contender to a legit contender. And I generally agree with the Oracle's assessment, although unlike the Oracle, I'd rather have Millwood and his contract than Burnett and his contract.

And I've added a poll at the righthand side to grade the Rangers' acquisition of Kevin Millwood.

I dont see

why people think this is a overpaying signing, to get desent pitching these days you have to way overpay for it. This is one of the best moves the Rangers have made in a long time. A's fans are just mad because now they have competition and they overpaid for esteban loaiza. Mariner fans are mad becuase of the whole Washburn thing. If they people that are complaining got Millwood at this cost I think they would be the ones saying its such a good signing and all.

Millwood

Money was part of it, I'm sure, but Millwood wouldn't have signed with Texas without the trades for Padilla and Eaton. He saw a team that's serious about doing something to get better.
