Chan Ho Park going into last nights game had an astounding 7 - 1 record despite having a 5.15 ERA. So what's been the difference between this season's Park and the previous three seasons?
- So far a complete lack of injury.
- He's getting run support this year that he didn't have the previous seasons.
- He's been keeping the ER's down despite giving up a lot of hits. I believe this is mostly attributable to the defense behind him.
Bases Empty: (not bad) 1.22 ERA, but a 1.73 WHIP
Runners On: 10.85 ERA with .342 BAA
RISP: 14.48 with .318 BAA
RISP w/2 outs: 32.00 ERA 2.11 WHIP and .325 BAA
Bases Loaded: (oddly enough) .200 BAA and .075 WHIP but he has a 20.25 ERA
Now here's the most incredible stat of them all, ALL of Park's 50 ER's this season have come when the count is 0-0. That's ALL OF THEM! Hitters swinging at Park's first pitch are hitting .452. Even when he's ahead in the count he just can't seem to finish off hitters, they're still hitting .393.
So really last night's implosion was inevitable, and I can only believe it's going to get worse from here on out.
