It's great to see Dellucci hitting again, especially the homers in the last two games. However, he's still striking out too much and not walking enough for the #1 spot. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Dellucci fan, but it seems like the umps got tired of him walking four times a game and started giving all the close calls to the pitchers.
Why not bump Dellucci down to sixth, move Michael Young up to first, and move Mench up to second? I hate to tamper with Young since he's been hitting great in the #2 slot, but with all the singles he seems like an ideal #1 hitter. He's also got the most basestealing potential of the starters. In addition, Big Kev did well in the two slot last night, and Lewin said he has not hit into a DP all year.
If the Rangers can trade for Sweeney from the Royals, hit him in the #2 slot, that'd be good stuff. Particularly if they can stick Dellucci in right and bench Hidalgo. But, at this point it looks like starting pitching will be the #1 priority.
