I really don't get this pick. He just seems like a Sinisi or Botts clone. When you have Ellsbury who put up better numbers in the same conference and plays a premium defensive position this pick is confusing. There were also a couple of pitchers who fell who seem like better picks there than Mayberry.

he was basicly best avalable player. He is a right feilder that can hit offensivly and has power. Seattle tryed to pick him a few years back but decided to go to college. In my opinion the best choice we made in the draft was to get teagarden in the third round. I thought he was the best catcher in the draft and was projected to get picked in the 1st round. He has great defensive skills and has pretty good offensive skills.

Best Player Available?

Best available player is a reach and he hardly had any power the last two seasons including only eight last season. Comparing Mayberry to Ellsbury, they are both 21 and played in the PAC-10.

Ellsbury: .416/.504/.606
Mayberry: .303/.391/.479

Ellsbury plays the premium defensive position and has better speed than Mayberry. BTW John Sickels thought they picked him too high.

Height

I really don't see a guy who's that big staying as a right fielder. What will happen as he adds bulk to his frame as he grows older? I see first base/DH in his future.
