7/10/05 game day thread

Okay, since I'm going to be sans internet access tomorrow morning, I'm throwing up the game day thread tonight...

I'll be at the game tomorrow, and will post my thoughts on Newberg Report Day tomorrow evening...

Ask Daniels this...
...if they take some of your most important responsibilities away from you, would you quit or stay with the team at a much diminished role?

Yesterday
Scott Lucas put up on his web site a short article about Drese's departure.

"Ryan Drese Is Responsible For EVERYTHING"

Edison Volquez
TR Sullivan had the following note this morning.  Since Adam's away, I'll post it right here.  I do not think this would be a good move at all:

"Double A Frisco right-hander Edison Volquez is one of the pitchers the Rangers are considering in their second-half rotation.

They have talked about at least using him while Kenny Rogers is serving his 20-game suspension.

"I wouldn't preclude anything," Buck Showalter said.

The Rangers are still unsure about their fifth starter. Juan Dominguez is a candidate to replace C.J. Wilson, but John Wasdin or Joaquin Benoit could get a shot.

The Rangers expect Rogers to make at least one start before his appeal is heard, Volquez has to be put on the 40-man roster after the season anyway."

@ The Newberg Report
MJ Hindman adds to the TR Sullivan report:

Volquez is profiled by Baseball America's John Manuel as the top breakout candidate among players on the World Team roster in today's Futures Game which will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 3:00

at least it looks like added info when comparing your post to MJH's post.

Well
that's almost three days old, so I don't really think it needs to be considered with TR's article.

Same
I know Loe has done well in late relief...he should still be higher on the SP depth chart than Volquez.  Same with Dominguez.

Shame Shame Shame
5 post up on today's game and not much about Sori not in today's lineup.

Good
Good comeback today for the Rangers - finally using the longball when they needed it the most.

Adam
Boy, Adam has to be really steamed that Sori, Barajas and Derosa helped us win the last two games.

NOt sure who his next target will be during the all star break.

I'm sure he can find somebody in the front office to complain about during the break.

I kid, I kid.
