Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

Texas - OU today!

Texas vs OU today at 3:30 eastern!

I've had two cable boxes break in the past month, so I am without HD for the game, which completely sucks.

As for predicted score, I'm going with Texas 28, OU 17.

Unless Adam adds an official thread, here's a place to discuss...

Always possible
and Greg Davis is always the weak link in these games. The one thing on that is that the OU defense has not looked too strong this season. But any time Texas has a good defense and Bob Stoops plays Greg Davis, the possibility for low scoring is certainly there.

prediction
texas 16 ou 13

i think it will be a close game, and it will come down to how well can the texas offense produce.
i expect texas to just run the ball down their throats.

Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

7-7
Rocking a little less hard at the moment.
Nobody cares about your fantasy or video game teams.

mack brown
in a big game without vince young to bail him out. has to be a little scary for longhorn fans.

by selppuc on Oct 7, 2006 3:17 PM CDT reply actions

Hilarious
Winning a natinal championship can't even quiet some people, I guess.

by PatrickWalz on Oct 7, 2006 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions

Also, I am confident...
That if Texas wins today, today will magically cease to be a "big game".

by PatrickWalz on Oct 7, 2006 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions

Not scary at all
Whenever I feel the slightest trepidation about having Mack as the coach I just have to think of 2 things.....

David McWilliams and John Mackovic.

Texas defsne is kicking ass.
Texas' defense has been so outstanding today.

Nearly got Thompson in the endzone there...

the D
not looking so hot here the past few OU possesions.
and the texas offense is looking pretty average.
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

Greg Davis
You mean Greg Davis looks pretty aveage...He has to learn to open up the playbook a bit

by brian mac on Oct 7, 2006 3:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Yup.
First 25 minutes were great, past 5 minutes have been poor.

by PatrickWalz on Oct 7, 2006 3:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Peterson
He is something else......This game has been one of the hardest hitting I've seen lately...Hope it stays this good

by brian mac on Oct 7, 2006 3:43 PM CDT reply actions

Mack Brown
Everytime I listen to him I think he is running for Governor of Texas.....No wonder he is one of the best recruiters ever

by brian mac on Oct 7, 2006 4:05 PM CDT reply actions

and
managed to keep his job after losing 5 straight to his biggest rival when talent was pretty equal.

by selppuc on Oct 7, 2006 4:09 PM CDT up reply actions

thats not
going to get you much love at most big time programs when you are one of the national title favorites in all of those years and you are completely dominated by your biggest rival when talent is equal. i don't see how anybody can argue that mac is not a very suspect in game coach.

by selppuc on Oct 7, 2006 4:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Texas was a national title contender...
for about 5 years, and won it once.

Give the number of national title contenders in those 5 years, winning even one is great.

Florida/LSU
I have never seen anything like the play Florida just scored on...Tebow ran a fake qb sneak into the line and jumped liked he was taking a basketball jump shot, double clutced, and lobbed a rainbow over the line into the tght end....

TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!
Nice pass right on the money.  Nice seperation from Sweed.

by Chris Hanes on Oct 7, 2006 4:33 PM CDT reply actions

YES!
21-10.

And Tigers up 6-0.

What a great sports day this is looking like it will be...

by PatrickWalz on Oct 7, 2006 4:59 PM CDT reply actions

Even if that is a poor call..
(And I don't know that it was)  wouldn't a "big game coach" teach his players to play until a whistle is blown?

by PatrickWalz on Oct 7, 2006 5:24 PM CDT reply actions

Nice point.....
And I just finished reading Sturm's Blog where he had a piece on there about Stoops needing to return to winning "big games".

by Chris Hanes on Oct 7, 2006 5:29 PM CDT up reply actions

stoops
you could definently make a case that he is overrated. OU has had their share of bad performances in big games as well, he isn't at the level of mack brown yet, but OU needs a couple of big wins here soon.

by selppuc on Oct 7, 2006 5:35 PM CDT up reply actions

ummm
playing one of your biggest rivals with both in the top 15, yeah it s a pretty big game.

by selppuc on Oct 7, 2006 6:19 PM CDT up reply actions

Just wondering...
Seems like the term "big game" is only used when Mack Brown loses.

by PatrickWalz on Oct 7, 2006 6:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I remember a surplus of people calling the previous 2 Rose Bowls "big games"

Greg Davis was awful in the first half
and magnificent in the second half. Gene Chizik is the man. This is by far the toughest Texas defense I've seen in my lifetime.

by austintxhorn on Oct 8, 2006 12:22 AM CDT reply actions

What?
I thought it was all about the talent?

Btw, were there enough 23-10 scores today? Yep, they've officially ruined college football.

by Sharky on Oct 8, 2006 6:12 AM CDT up reply actions

Yup
Everyone feels that way. I saw there were only 5,000 people at every SEC game yesterday.

by mdickson on Oct 8, 2006 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions

Also...
I wish Longhorn would come back and tell us about how awful Colt McCoy is.
