Matsuzaka bid

I guess the Red Sox have made the highest bid on Matsuzaka. I am really dissapointed about this if it is true. I thought we had a great shot at him and i thought he would be a huge addition to our rotation. Now, the Red Sox just get better and the Rangers stay the same for now.

actually
if the red sox got DM, they'd be crazy good
they'd have a rotation of:
Scilling
DM
Beckett
Papelbon
Wakefield/Lester/Clement

they have a good bullpen and will sign a few free agents(lugo and drew are a few that i've heard) to bolster an already good offense

and no, i'm not a red sox fan, but i dont hate them

Boston
Their only good reliever last season was Papelbon, so if he goes to the rotation, they don't have a good bullpen.

Beckett was pretty mediocre last season, and Schilling is 40.

Matsuzaka would be a big boost, but they are a team that gave up more runs than they scored in 2006.

x
that's true, their pen isn't great if you take out papelbon, but gabbard, taveras, and timlin were decent, and hansen has real good potential

beckett was pretty bad, but he's still only 25(maybe 26) and i think he'll improve
and even if schilling is 40, he can still pitch

variteck was also out for a while last year, so he'll be a boost

You

This is still just speculation
based off of stupid Buster Olney's stupid, uninformed article on ESPN.

If it is the Sox, great. But I'll believe it when I see it confirmed by the AP.

I fail to see
how a team can emerge as the "frontrunner" based on a rumor.  I'll wait for the official announcement.

Or
How you have be a "frontrunner" in a bid situation.

You are either the high bid or you aren't.
