DeRosa to Cubs?

I do not want to see him go. I would much rather see him take a starting outfield spot away from Wilkerson. I think I have made my stance on Wilkerson quite clear since we traded for him.

DeRosa
I would rather have DeRosa at 3rd than in the outfield and then trade Hank the Stank.

Who are you and what have you done with Chris Martin?

Derosa
I guess I had just pegged you as an anti-Derosa guy.  I could be mistaken, though.

Things change
I was never anti-DeRosa per se.  I was anti-Buck playing him too much late in the 2005 season.

But when a guy plays well like he did last year then I have no problem giving him props.

cool
I really would have liked to see a straight platoon between Blalock and Derosa at third in 2007, but financially I guess that wouldn't have made sense. I'm not really looking forward to Blalock's at bats against lefties next year.

I'm not either
or at least I'm not looking forward to hearing from Cahill about how he's an alcoholic after each one. :)

Hank will be good in '07.
I think playing for somebody other than Buck will rejuvenate Hank.  He's going to be good again in '07.  You heard it here first.

I hope you are right
Although, if that is true then he is just a whiny little bitch that isn't professional enough to play for a guy he doesn't like.

Replacement for DeRosa?
So who'll be our backup at 3B, 2B, and SS now?  I guess DeRosa's unusual level of productivity for a utilty guy will make it hard to view anyone as an adequate replacement for him. The guy also played 6 positions this year which ultimately allowed us to go carry a 7-man bullpen.  How do you find a player with that much value?

We've lost
the best nickname in the clubhouse, how can you replace that?

man I hope THAT was sarcasm

I'm not really
willing to pay $13 mil over 3 years for a nickname...on the field, replacing DeRosa is the least of JD's worries this offseason.

meh
I would have liked to see him stay instead of let Blalock and Wilkerson hit against lefties.  However, I think the opportunity to start at 2nd everyday was just as important to him as the money.

Yep, he said as much
But, give JD props for trying.........I'd have thought 3/$10M would be enough.......better get ready for an expensive off season.
