Volquez and Tejeda

I think if Volquez is going to be any good, much depends on Tejeda. The two seem to feed off of eachother being back to back in AAA. I like the fact that people think that "V" is personable, but I would much rather have Clemens demeanor on the mound. If, and i know it is a big if, these two and Millwood are solid, than we only have two spots left in the rotation.

Tejeda
needs to be penciled in as our #5 going into the season if we're gonna have a shot at the West. We need two quality starters for the 2 and 3 spots, plus a veteran on a one year contract who can man the 4th slot and eat some innings. There are a few decent options out there who might be willing to do a one year deal. Tomo Ohka, Tony Armas, John Thomson, Kip Wells, ect...

I think counting on two young guys to anchor the back of the rotation is folly. If Volquez is ready, then let him break in via the bullpen.

More likely
Millwood
Vazquez/Buerhle/Garland (in the order of likelyhood)
Wells
Tejeda
Volquez

Vazquez
has a no-trade clause I think, so not sure how likely that is.  I can't imagine Kip Wells as a 3rd starter, either.

I think you're wrong
Kip Wells could be a very good third starter... assuming we're planning on winning about 60 games next season.

I say
You go get two starters, and let someone step up in spring training to fill the #5 spot (Volquez, Rupe, Loe, etc...)

I don't
see how you can count on Volquez for anything, given how he's struggled in the majors with his control. I also think that unless he has a command epiphany, he can best help in the pen for the time being - not that the pen is necessarily where they need him at the moment.

I think it's probably more likely that Danks could do okay in the rotation to start the year than Volquez.

I agree (with all of the above)
and I'll go farther and predict Volquez has trouble EVER making it in the Bigs.
