Per Jamey Newberg:
T.R. Sullivan reports on his MLB.com blog (http://trsullivan.mlblogs.com/)
that Oakland third base coach Ron Washington, who had a second interview
with the Rangers today, will be named the new Rangers manager at a press
conference tomorrow.
Sullivan's blog reads:
Ron Washington is the Rangers new manager.
Washington will be named the 17th full-time manager in Rangers history, replacing Buck Showalter who was fired at the end of the season.
Washington is expected to be introduced as the new manager on Monday at a press conference. He interviewed with Rangers owner Tom Hicks on Sunday and was "very impressive" according to club sources.
Washington has also interviewed with the Athletics for their managerial opening. He has been on their coaching staff for 11 years and managed two years in the Minor Leagues before that.
