OT: Finals/ semester exams

just finished them and i'm really happy, so my semesters over... if any other students are out there and would like to chime in that would be great,... Listen they are never as hard as the teachers say they are, its just scare tactis.

plus this is from the NY post

http://www.nypost.com/seven/12162006/sports/mets/in_hot_pursuit_mets_michael_morrissey.htm

They say "When the Mets pull out all the stops on a recruiting pitch, they usually get their man. "

I dont know but they idea of the mets pulling out all there stops, is not something i really want to hear.

but what ever these are the things you expect as a ranger fan.

I finished...
my finals on Tuesday at TCU.  All done, and actually ended up a letter grade higher in 2 classes than I thought I was going to finish up.

Definitely glad to not have stuff due in a little while, but bored in Amarillo already.

I finished mine at TCU on friday
And when you are taking organic chemistry, the exams are harder than the teachers say they are

by i hit straight ball very much on Dec 16, 2006 10:35 PM CST reply actions

Haha...
I've heard about those Org Chem tests and such.  Oh and heard plenty about A&P and such too.  I've got too many nursing and pre-med friends at TCU.

by rangers85 on Dec 16, 2006 10:40 PM CST up reply actions

I just barely
snuck by with an A in O-Chem. That was all types of fun.

by FirebatM3 on Dec 16, 2006 10:50 PM CST up reply actions

Some People...
...make a very nice living practicing organic chemistry.  It is nice that so many people don't like it since salaries are governed by supply and demand.

So to all the Organic Chemistry haters, I say thank you.

You sir.
"Listen they are never as hard as the teachers say they are, its just scare tactis."

You sir, are obviously an undergrad.  Just wait till you decide to go to law school...

I had back to back exams week last week (trust and estates, cyberlaw) then back to back exams this week (criminal procedure, conflicts of law).  Yes, it's as bad as they'll ever say.  I'm sure Adam can commiserate.  I wrote the equivalent of a 10-15 page essay (with citations) in 3 hours for each exam.

And on that note, I'm going back to drinking beer and getting reacquainted with my playstation.  And praciticing for tomorrows poker tournament...

I second that
undergrad was cake compared to law school so far and I am only a first year.

by texasbuckeye on Dec 16, 2006 11:05 PM CST up reply actions

First year
they scare you to death, second year they work you to death, third year they bore you to death...

Did you take torts this semester?  It was the bright spot in my first year.

I took a class on drug abuse and the health care system this semester that was taught through the social science school.  Oh. My. God.  It seemed like the easiest thing I've ever done, but I realize that I would have bitched about how hard it was in undergrad.  There really is no comparison.

by BrodyV on Dec 16, 2006 11:07 PM CST up reply actions

really? torts?
I hated torts, by far my least favorite. Mainly because I get tired of reading cases that are ridiculous and everything is evaluated according to the arbitrary standard of how a "reasonable prudent person" would act.

by texasbuckeye on Dec 16, 2006 11:13 PM CST up reply actions

Yikes
sounds like you had a baaad teacher, if that's what you got out of torts...  Basically, for the rest of law school, you can ignore standards of care.  What matters is the reasoning, and the causation analysis.  Causation analysis (but for, intervening causation, res ipsa, etc.) is going to come in veeery handy once you do crimlaw.

How is your ConLaw class set up?  One semester, two?  This semester?  I'd be interested to know, since I'm the TA for a conlaw class next semester.  Send me an email:  brodyvess at gmail dot com.

I didn't realize
that there were so many TCU students on LSB.

What year are yall and what is your major?  We may have had classes together and not even known it.

I'm a senior (as of Thursday) Psychology major, although I may be able to graduate with a double major Psych/Poli Sci.

by hurley325 on Dec 16, 2006 11:43 PM CST reply actions

Myself...
I'm a senior (graduating in May) accounting and finance with real estate double major with economics minor.  I'm still living on campus though in Tom Brown/Pete Wright.

Don't really know many Psych majors though.

I am
a sophmore biology major. Not pre-med mind you

Exams weren't
too bad. I found out I got a 95 on my physics today, which should give me 4.0 this semester, not too shabby...

I hear...
...they teach creationism in the geology department there.  The world is supposedly like 200 years old or something.

I took
my comprehensive exams this semester. I am working on a doctorate in secondary and higher education. The written tests were given over two days and comprised everything learned throughout the program. We typed everything in Microsoft Word. I wrote over over 80 pages. It was a terrible experience. I don't recommend that for anyone. Orals were a breeze though.

As for Organic chemistry I took that as an undergrad and count myself among the lucky to make a C. It wasn't that it was difficult it is just that I approached my undergraduate studies like Bill Murray's character in Ghostbuster. I never studied.

this last week was exam week
at FSU.  I'm a economics/poli sci double major.  But I was also taking a course for my Master's in Economics this semester (because I had all but one class taken care of for my undergrad degree, so they let me get a headstart on my Master's).  Of course, the one econ class I had left was econometrics, anyone who ever majored or even minored in econ should know what I'm talking about when I say that class is insanely difficult.  And then my graduate course was Applied Macro Theory 1, I already know my grade in the class though, -A.  I'm very proud of that grade, for my first grad course, and the fact that it is higher than some of the guys in that class that I know are smarter than I am.
The econometrics exam wasn't until Friday from 3PM-5PM!!!!!  Last day of exam week, I hate that.  And as soon as that test was over, I got in the car to make the 4.5 hour drive back to Dunedin, FL (just think Blue Jays high A).

Did we already have
a thread on where we all went to school? there seems to be a large ammount of college students (graduates and undergraduates) among us.

by FirebatM3 on Dec 17, 2006 3:28 AM CST reply actions

Mine are Monday and Wednesday
I go to NYU and those are the only two exams I have.  I had a really easy schedule this semester, but it'll get better next term with Mathematical Physics, Modern Physics, and Linear Algebra.

DONE! FOREVER!
I finished up last Tuesday with a 30 minute presentation on Interpersonal Conflict.  Two days before that I had a 30 minute presentation on Athletes and Violent Criminal Activity.

Then we did graduation on Friday.  The culmination of 6 1/2 years, 3 schools, 4 majors, and 162 credit hours.  I'm now the proud holder of a Bachelors of Business Administration with a focus in Sports Management.  ...Anybody know anybody that can hook me up with a job?
