The Rosenthal-Zito saga continues

I just found this article from everybody's favorite reporter, Ken Rosenthal, regarding the Barry Zito situation. It says that the Mets also had a meeting with Jeff Suppan and his agent while they were in California...

One can't help but wonder if the Mets are thinking about dropping out of the Zito sweepstakes if they're already publicly looking at other options. Maybe Minaya and company have some tricks up their sleeve by allowing this to go public, but it could also be interpreted as good news for the Rangers... Of course, we'll have to wait and see. Personally, this suspense is worse than the anticipation I had as a child for Christmas morning...

that you're a Rangers fan, and whatever happens will most likely be bad for the franchise. That keeps me from getting too antsy. :)

You're probably right...

Five or six weeks ago I was excited about our chances of landing Dice-K/D-Mat or whatever he's calling himself these days. When that fell through, and news came out that we were in pursuit of Zito, I became excited about that as well... If he signs elsewhere, maybe I'll muster up some excitement for Lieber or Suppan if they're available. Regardless, I'm 100% Ranger fan and I'll always hope for the best and deal with the reality when it occurs...

does the Rangers talking to Mark Mulder mean that they're not really interested in Zito? Not really.

Teams are always talking to other players as Plan B insurance. I wouldn't read anything into this.

Good point...

...I think I'm allowing myself to get WAY too caught up in this Zito thing. I firmly believe we need to do what's necessary to get him to Arlington, and that's definitely starting to cloud my judgement...
