Rangers Offseason Hasn't Been Ruinous

Blair Lovern, writer for DFW's new hyper-local news medium http://www.PegasusNews.com, has a great story on the Rangers offseason so far...

"Even though I'm a big Rangers fan, I've refrained from posting anything about any speculation about whom Texas is considering signing during the offseason. Yeah, that's awesome they might get Crispus Attucks or Joe Buttfoot or Sammy Fatface. I know I'm in the minority with this thinking, just come and get me when the team does something."

Two things that I didn't like reading
There are some things in there that make a little sense, but two things caught my eye in an odd way.

GMJ was this guy's favorite player the last two seasons?  What did GML do in 2005 to be this guy's favorite player?  Sounds like hindsight to me.  Maybe I'm being picky...

And "Jason Botts, ugh."  That's it?  That's his analysis of Botts?

Shtick is more important to this guy than reasoned thinking.

The Rangers off season has not been ruinous
A more accurate description would be that it has not begun.  Other than Cat and a few minor deals, the only thing the rangers have done is not re-sign their FA's.  They have yet to make any major moves and with major moves/impact players the risk factor goes up.
The worst decision is not making a decision.  Let's see what JD and Hicks decide upon and then judge their off season.

IMO...
  •  GMJ can be someone's favorite player, and not hit 87 homers and swipe a billion bases.  I too found GMJ to be my favorite player for reasons beyond his physical performance.  Not only is he a good player, but he's also a legitimately good guy - and that sorta thing means a lot to certain fans.
  •  Botts... "Ugh."  Once he begins to perform, sports writers will then consider analyzing him.

Good guy GMJ
Have you ever met Gary Matthews Jr.?
Give me a diablo sandwich, a Dr. Pepper, and make it quick, I'm in a god-damn hurry.

Yup, I sure have met Gary
I actually met him the day he made his spectacular catch, and he couldn't have been more modest and appreciative towards my compliment to him.

And thanks for the heads up on the vid.  I must have done a YouTube no-no.
