"Good" news on Kinsler

It is all relative, of course...but Ian Kinsler had his dislocated thumb re-set today, and they are hoping he'll be back in three weeks.

He's been d.l.'d, and GMJ has been activated.

Why don't they send Nix down?
And bring Meyer (if they'll play him) or Durazo (to get a late inning bat off the bench)

Because
Neither Meyer or Durazo are not on the 40 man, bringing that into roster hell.  Futher more, Durazo can't be called up until May 15 (May 1???).  So Nix will be sent down when GMJ is ready.

Plus...
Mathews is being called up to replace Kinsler on the roster today.  So Nix won't go down for Mathews.

I'd rather...
have Nix play every day at OKC instead of every 4th or 5th game in Arlington.  He needs to get in a groove, then be brought back up.  Brown is an adequate backup in relation to Nix.  I also don't see the need for 5 OFers on the roster, especially when DeRosa can fill in at the corners as well.

I'd rather have Durazo's big bat to pinch hit in the late innings.

You forget...
At the moment Mench is out with the turf toe.  So really Brown is the only backup still.

Good News
That's good to hear that it apparently wasn't as serious as, say, Laird's thumb injury. Get well soon, Ian.

Wow
sigh of relief. . .hopefully it won't bother him all year.

I can't envision a better start to the season than the one he had.
