Lumberkings Report

Saw the Lumberkings lose 1-0 to the Peoria Chiefs, the Low A affiliate of the Cubs, and offensively it was not pretty.  For most of the game their best offense was being hit by pitches (that happened twice).  Whittleman looked OK, not great, and he certainly did not look smooth at third.  The scoreboard said he had 20+ errors for the season.  Rasner seemed sharp.  The Chief hitters were pretty good and he kept them off balance most of the night.  His fastball was in the low 90s most of the night but I would not say it had a ton of movement.
Mayberry looked really bad.  His swing is long and to ansewr a question he has closed his stance.  I am no baseball expert nor a scout but I would say his swing is also relatively slow as he had trouble catching up to low 90s fastballs from the Chiefs SP.  All in all they are a bad team who really can't hit much.  The ERA for the Chiefs starter coming in was 4.41 and they didn't have many good ABs against him.  Anyway, hope this is of use/interest to some of you.
