For All Cowboy Fans...

I know that most Ranger fans are Cowboy fans as well (Ed would be one exception that comes to mind), so just thought I'd get the word out in case you haven't heard yet.

This Sunday, The NFL Network will have "Dallas Cowboys Day" airing 13 hours of exclusive Cowboys beginning at 1 p.m.

Get your TiVo's Ready.

This last week has me yearning for the end of July and the reporting of players to camp.

Sweet
I'll definitely be watching some of that.

I wasn't thinking about football (well, not the U.S. version) at all lately, until I picked up NFL Head Coach this past Sunday.

ortonius, you weren't kidding about the game being deep. And addictive. I think I played it for about six hours apiece Sunday and Monday. I'm also playing with the Cowboys...

the NFL
is the most boring sports league on th planet, even counting the WNBA.

Hehe
It is garbage as I've spouted for years thanks to the clock rules now, but I wouldn't go THAT far.

I might...
put the NBA ahead of the NFL for most boring sports league.  But just barely.

I'm completely ready for the new NCAA Football season.  Goooooooo Horned Frogs!  Until then though, at least the new NCAA Football game gets released July 18th.

NCAA Football
I used to really follow it when I was younger, but lost interest after college. Going to UT-Arlington probably had something to do with that...

Not having a natural rooting interest, I usually cheer on TCU, UT, and Alabama, since that's where I was born. I tried to tell my parents how going to a college without a football team would mess me up, but since they also went to a no-football school, my arguments fell on deaf ears.

Then again, UTA is pretty much the Notre Dame/USC of wheelchair basketball, so that's some consolation...

Correction
I guess that should be the Duke/UNC of wheelchair basketball, since Notre Dame & USC's dominance has been more football-oriented...

the NFL
is the best league ever Dirkatron. You're probably just a rebellious teenager that follows a league where people have to show off, the NBA. Basketball is a wimpy sport, if you touch anybody, it is a foul. Most people that watch NBA just want to be cool and popular. And to prove that football is by far the most popular sport, here is a fact. The television ratings in Dallas/Fort Worth for the 2006  NBA Finals games were pretty much the exact same as an average Dallas Cowboys preseason game.

Nope
You just have to be a big, hulking dumbass that does one or two things well.

I admire football from a strategic point of view.  That's to say you have a lot of one or two dimensional players on the field and you design plays like a general would devise a battle plan.  That's fun to watch, I'll admit it.

But I don't understand why it's a religion to some people.

by Dustin on Jun 29, 2006 5:13 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

It is religion
to some because there is something to think about every day of the year even though there are only 16 games. And then, when a game finally rolls around it is so exciting, because you have been meditating on it all week or all year.
It is also fun to think from the Head Coach's view and the GM's view every day, just like the new video game NFL Head Coach

You're Right
Except:
  1. I love following the rules. They're fun and following them ensures a good time is had by all.
  2. I'm not a teenager.
  3. After the NBA finals I vowed never to watch an NBA game again and I totally agree with you about the touch fouls. (Wait? Did I hear a whistle? Did we just get called for another foul on Wade?)
  4. I've accepted the fact that I will never be cool, and certainly never popular.
  5. Just something is popular and gets good ratings DOES NOT mean that it is "good".
I love football. But the NFL is bland and vanilla and boring (to me). College football is still a great passion of mine, though. I pray every night that we see a real playoff within my lifetime.

what?
how could you like watching mediocre players play in college, and not the best players in the world in the NFL.

It can't be hard to play football
I bet there's not all that much difference between a seasoned professional and a great college football player (possible exception -- quarterback).  The NFL teams are better, but that's only because there are hundreds of college teams that share the talent.

If you watch the University of Texas play Ohio State or something, you're watching some of the best football there is, I'd bet.

but
the NFL is made up of all the best college players. Have you ever heard of the NFL Draft
