Sign of the Devil game day thread

Lineup up...

Dumpmaster, Wilk, Mench, Laird and Kinsler at the bottom of the lineup.

Antonio Alfonseca has been activated, and D'Angelo Jimenez has been DFA'd...

Kevin Millwood vs. Scott Elarton...the Rangers really need to take this game...

I think a 4-3 stretch thru the end of this week should be the goal...

Go Rangers...

Only two Rangers under .300
Wilkerson at .245, and Mench at .299. Impressive.

I'd like to see the Rangers sweep KC. Do us proud Laird.

Buckrajas sucks

teixeira too
tex is at .299

but if tex and mench get hits in any of their first 3 at bats, then i think they will have 8 over 300 which is obviously impressive.

Prediction :
Wilkerson will have one interesting night:

He's #6, batting 6th, and he's exactly 6 feet tall...

:)

4-3 stretch....
What does that include?

I think we should hope for a sweep of the Royals and 1 out of 3 vs. the Red Sox.

That already makes for 4-2 without winning 2 out of 3 from the Red Sox.

The Royals are VERY sweepable.

BoSox
We have four games against them this weekend.  There's a doubleheader on Saturday.

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 6, 2006 6:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Ah....
makes sense.... Forgot about that.

I still think I'd shoot for 5-2 with a sweep vs. the Royals and a split vs. the Red Sox.

Sweeping on the road...
That's really hard, even against the Royals.

If we figure the Rangers have a 70% chance of winning each game, that's a 34% chance of sweeping.

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 6, 2006 8:03 PM CDT up reply actions

34% chance isn't really that bad...
The question is what you're SHOOTING for.

The probability of winning 2 out of 3 vs. the Royals is better than 50%, so you're basically asking for the normal happening in KC and a split in Boston.

I'd rather ask for a sweep of the Royals and a split in Boston or 2 out of 3 vs. the Royals and 3 out of 4 in Boston.

Now, do I THINK it's likely to go 5-2?

No. But that's different than what you're WANTING to happen.

As soon as you say that...
...they'll get hot.  Even the sorriest of teams will get hot every now and then.

by Dustin on Jun 6, 2006 7:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, I see that
Josh has been drinking already.

"Buddy Bell is such a good baseball man."

No, Josh, he's not. He's pretty much the opposite.

by RCCook on Jun 6, 2006 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Royals
They're bad on so many levels that I have trouble believing it.  Bad manager, bad team, bad GM, bad ownership...everything.

Maybe baseball ought to have a thing where the worst teams get kicked out of the premier league and have to earn their way back.  How's that for incentive?

by Dustin on Jun 6, 2006 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Well...
They've got a new g.m. now.  He's pretty well respected.

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 6, 2006 7:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Thanks
I must've missed that.  Good luck to him; he's really going to need it.

Wilkerson
I like him more with every game.
I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

Buck on Laird
"He has my attention."

About. Damn. Time.

by RCCook on Jun 6, 2006 7:38 PM CDT reply actions

i am predicting
that michael {6 letters} will have 6 unassisted putouts tonight, 3 in the sixth inning on 6 pitches, and the total will be 6 different batters.

Wilkerson
5 of his last 6 hits are homers.

The power is nice, but I'd like to see a few more singles as well...

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 6, 2006 7:40 PM CDT reply actions

Well
There's a double for you. Hopefully he'll get healthy soon because you have to figure he'll hit even better once the wrist has healed up.
I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

Oakland 4 Clevland 5, Top 7th
Also, Soriano just hit another homer.  Jeez, that guy is having a shockingly good year.

by alon91 on Jun 6, 2006 7:51 PM CDT reply actions

This inning
Started off so promisingly as well.

Ah well, at least we should score runs against the KC pitching. It would be nice if Milwood could get a strike out here though.

I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

A flyout
is good as well.

Millwood's last 12 IP
11 Earned Runs

And walked off the field after that 12th inning with the bases juiced behind him.  I wish he would steady himself and start on a roll.

Tom Grieve Is Old!
I wish they would have just renewed Lewin's contract.  I hate to knock a guy, but Tom Grieve is so damn boring.

MLB.tv is great!
the only thing that sucks is that locally and nationally broadcasted games are blacked out and cant be watched online.

Probably organizational filler.
He was drafted kind of low as I recall.

Yep...
A guy who was drafted for his defense at shortstop...

The consensus was...

Oakland up 7-6 in the 9th.

Due up 4th in the 9th - he's gonna make us reeeal happy.

He might have
Had 1 of the first 3 hitters reached base.

Oaktown Ass wins 7-6.

I wonder if Eric Hurley ...
... can still call Orel and talk shop whenever he wants.

by shroomer on Jun 6, 2006 8:41 PM CDT reply actions

If he does ...
... maybe he can ask Orel why Buck turned on Orel at the end of last season.

by Athos on Jun 6, 2006 8:45 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm very glad
that Orel is not our GM now; i heard him use the term 'good face' several times on ESPN when he does the telecasts...eh

by Longhorn on Jun 6, 2006 9:30 PM CDT up reply actions

I had high hopes that...
Cleveland would beat the A's tonight and if the Devil Rays were ever going to win you would think today would be the day 6-6-6. Oh well.

Kinsler
As Ali G would say "BOOYAKASHA"

When Ian Kinsler plays chutes and ladders
He treats the chutes as ladders. Because hes not some pussy that cant climb up a plastic slide.

Ian Kinsler
When Ian Kinsler jumps in a pool, he doesn't get wet. The water gets Ian'd.
One time, Hank Blalock walked down the street with an erection. There were no survivors. www.tepblog.blogspot.com
