Hairston in LF again.  Botts, Laird on bench.  Wilkerson DHs as Dumpmaster takes RF tonight.

by rangers85 on Jul 4, 2006 5:58 PM CDT reply actions

Hmmm....
Best OF defense all year?

Something to be happy about I guess.

Looks like Laird will get 2 more starts in this last 6 games.  That would be 3 for each of the catchers.  Maybe he will smoke it enough to get some looks against a righty or two.

Mmmm....
rain delay...
Got trust factor?

out of my apartment window in arlington and its not raining
MLB doesn't want the Rangers to succeed.

Daniel Haigwild yanked
3.1 IP, 2 runs, 0 ER, 3 hits, 5 walks, 4 K's

Danks - shutout thru 3 IP - 5 K's

Sheesh
5 walks. Not good.

Trying too hard...
...to impress the new teammates.

by T Coleman on Jul 4, 2006 10:19 PM CDT up reply actions

Hairston
I know he's poor offensively, but I love having his defence in the outfield.
I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

by shrinking violet on Jul 4, 2006 8:59 PM CDT reply actions

Hairston
Nice catch.

Now way Wilkerson or Mench makes that catch. Saved a double.

Got trust factor?

by thedirkatron on Jul 4, 2006 8:59 PM CDT reply actions

shhhhhhhhhhhh :)
Samir: Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael? Michael Bolton: No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

by Captain Fubar on Jul 4, 2006 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Mike Young...
with his 1000th hit.  Fastest Ranger to get to that plateau in 827 games.

by rangers85 on Jul 4, 2006 9:34 PM CDT reply actions

impressive
too bad that hit amounted to a bunch of nothing
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

by rentz on Jul 4, 2006 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Mike Young
Life-long Ranger... si o no?
you trying to tell me jesus christ can't hit a curve ball?

by chief on Jul 4, 2006 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

i say no.
going after Wells will eventually cost us MY IMO...

by Longhorn on Jul 4, 2006 9:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Wells?
I may misunderstood, but V. Wells is MY's best friend and they both said that they "will" play on the same team at some point in their careers.  If we bring in the Arlington native Wells then MY will stay and they both retire as Rangers.  Why would we not bring in Wells.  He will be a free agent before MY, right?

What can I say - I love the guy.

Of course I wanted Pudge to be a lifelong Ranger as well and that turned out well...

I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

If I had to...
If I had to consider anyone "untouchable" in terms of tearing down and rebuilding, I would point my finger at Mike Young, among the "veteran" players.
you trying to tell me jesus christ can't hit a curve ball?

by chief on Jul 4, 2006 9:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Danks thus far tonight
5 IPs, 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 BBs, 8 Ks

by BurntOrange on Jul 4, 2006 9:35 PM CDT reply actions

i would like to see both
volquez and danks in the rotation in the 2nd half...

by Longhorn on Jul 4, 2006 9:36 PM CDT up reply actions

whoa
what was that...someone actually thrown out at the plate!?!
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

Great throw by JHJ

From (sometimes my unreliable) memory,
I think it was when Tex and he went back to back against the Rockies, was it?
you trying to tell me jesus christ can't hit a curve ball?

by chief on Jul 4, 2006 9:56 PM CDT up reply actions

JHJ
With his defence - do you think it's fair to sacrifice the offensive for the boost he gives us on defence?

Of course with Mench and Wilkerson not hitting for crap just now I suppose the team isn't losing too much with running Hairston out there.

I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

by shrinking violet on Jul 4, 2006 9:45 PM CDT reply actions

lol
was just about to say, what offense?

by Longhorn on Jul 4, 2006 9:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Offence
Just wait until Mench gets on one of his hot streaks - then a lot of us will be looking stupid for doubting his offensive prowess.

Wilkerson I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to because the guy's clearly not fit (I'm sorry, him saying that it hurts to open the door but it doesn't hurt to swing the bat doesn't add up for me) but Mench's streakiness really bugs the life out of me.

Damn Koronka just gave up a HR. :( And De Rosa just misplayed a ball to put a guy on 2nd instead of first.

I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

by shrinking violet on Jul 4, 2006 9:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Dammit
One run might be enough tonight with Halladay being so very good and our offense being so very bad.
Got trust factor?

by thedirkatron on Jul 4, 2006 9:54 PM CDT reply actions

Double Dammit

ugh
that wasnt a bad throw really, maybe slightly weak.

but why the hell is the left side of the infield missing everydamn ball

Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

by rentz on Jul 4, 2006 9:56 PM CDT reply actions

Left side of the infield
Doesn't have good range.

by BurntOrange on Jul 4, 2006 9:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Danks through six innings
6 IPs, 4 hits, 0 runs, 0 BBs, 8 Ks

by BurntOrange on Jul 4, 2006 9:57 PM CDT reply actions

Koronka
Kinda deserved better than that. If DeRosa doesn't misplay that ball that gives the guy a double he maybe gets out of that with only 1 run.
I'm not fickle, I just don't like you.

i remember after a big game by GMJ last year i said that i think we just found our CF for next year, and then a few of the regulars knocked me around for saying that...

Where's Mench?
Don't managers usually go by past performances against the games pitcher?  Didn't Mench crack Halladay's shin a couple of years ago with a line drive?  Shouldn't he have pinch hit for Hairston last inning?  Please help, I don't understand.

by T Coleman on Jul 4, 2006 10:21 PM CDT reply actions

He had his chance again...
Chose not too.  Is that just too much managing for him or what?

I don't choose to post in the in-game threads much because I can't watch the games (cbssportsline only) so I'd rather just read the thoughts of others, but not even getting to watch and Buck is just really getting on my nerves this year.

by Chris Hanes on Jul 4, 2006 10:44 PM CDT up reply actions

We've sucked
ever since we got rid of the red and white jerseys...

by Longhorn on Jul 4, 2006 10:33 PM CDT reply actions

pinch hit
how can u not pinch hit for Hairston?

by kumar75150 on Jul 4, 2006 10:41 PM CDT reply actions

Total Agreement
We can only hope Daniels feels the same way and "pinch hits" for the manager very soon.

by T Coleman on Jul 4, 2006 10:43 PM CDT up reply actions

Buck
is an idiot.

by kumar75150 on Jul 4, 2006 10:41 PM CDT reply actions

Ummmm...
Why did Hairston hit there?

Is there really no one on the bench who would have been a better option?

by Adam J. Morris on Jul 4, 2006 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

Nope....
How can we shatter the all-time record for fewest pinch hits if Buck actually uses the bench?

by BurntOrange on Jul 4, 2006 10:44 PM CDT up reply actions

I knew he was black, but...
how little does he look.  Last time I remember seeing him he looked very skinny.

by Chris Hanes on Jul 4, 2006 10:48 PM CDT up reply actions

not too little
looks like he has some filthy stuff though...

by Longhorn on Jul 4, 2006 10:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Yep
I was surprised the first time I saw him, too.

Sort of like I was surprised when I saw Kevin Mench, when he was with Tulsa, and saw that he was white.

by jefrussell on Jul 4, 2006 10:50 PM CDT reply actions

What the hell?
I don't understand the logic of pulling Littleton with two outs in the 9th.  It's not like we have the lead.

you trying to tell me jesus christ can't hit a curve ball?

by chief on Jul 4, 2006 11:04 PM CDT reply actions

Yup...
basically mentioned the pressure was on the catcher because a ball going to the backstop puts the tying run in scoring position and breaks up the double play possibility.  And right as he was finishing up that statement, the ball went to the backstop.

by rangers85 on Jul 4, 2006 11:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Okay...
So you send up Mench to hit for Wilkerson, who has hit lefties well throughout his career, but not for Hairston?

And you let Barajas hit?

WTF?

by jefrussell on Jul 4, 2006 11:14 PM CDT reply actions

Dammit...
After the 7th inning, I was thinking that I would like to see Littleton make his debut in the 8th because it looked like (on computer granted) that Koronka was starting to get hit around in the 6th and the 7th innings.  He left him in only for Koronka to give up a HR in the 8th.  The game probably would have been tied if he wouldn't have left Koronka in.
