New poll up
Okay, people...you have tainted the "50,000th hit poll" by voting for Kevin Mench after he already got the 50,000th hit...
He only had 5 votes before he got #50,000. Don't think I didn't count!!! (Shaking fist)
Anyway...new poll up. Grade Jon Daniels' performance at the trade deadline. Cast your vote at right.

I voted A
Getting Nelson Cruz, two top picks, plus financial relief for Mench and Cordero is a good deal.
If the Rangers do end up finishing well out of it, it won't be Lee's fault.

win-win
A-/B+
It's too bad that Abreu wouldn't waive his no-trade clause to us w/o picking up the option.
I'm still shocked that the Angels didn't do anything to beat the Yankee's offer on Abreu.
I mean it's not like they're in a small market, or cheap, or don't have a much better farm system than the Yankees.

I 'd give JD an A+/Incomplete......
No, I didn't....
I actually gave him an A. I thought he did a nice job of improving the team for this year, setting up an opportunity to restock the farm system with several top 50 draft picks, and adding Cruz, all while really only giving up one guy (Cordero) who I think had any real value for next season, and who should be able to be replaced for $5 million this offseason, assuming he isn't replaced internally.
Since the Tejada's and Schmidt's of the world didn't get traded, I don't think you can hold that against him, because it may very well be that not making deals for those types of players was the right move, since we don't know what they would have cost us.
