The Fans
Now I have never been very big on the fans in Texas but last night was one of the most embarassing games I have ever been to. I have heard the argument that people do not want to drive 20 mins and sit in this beautiful weather. That is fine, enjoy the game from home your punishment will be 100 commercials of Taylor Hicks singing about Ford. The only thing worse in my mind for a Rangers game is watching Brad Wilkerson stand in the box.
Anyway for those who happened to make it to the game last night that was embarassing. Not only did the team drop the ball but the fans did as well. Why is it so hard to get loud during certain situations? Why is there a 5 yr old kid leading in section 14 leading the third base side in a "Lets go Rangers" chant? If you were in that section how are you not chanting with that kid? Even he knew the importance of last nights game (actually he appeared to have no clue but still kept trying to keep the chant going). And finally for the 26k in attendance (which was probably no more than 18k in a seat) why are you getting up and leaving after we squandered a rally in the 8th? Down two runs going into the 9th was not an easy save with the 9,1,and 2 hitters (even though it was). Easily 25%-50% of the fans were gone by the top of the 9th. There will not be any traffic in Arlington to worry about when there are only about 18k people at a game. Keep your ass in the seat.
Please do not respond with "I knew we were going to lose" or anything like that. Sorry for the rant it is probably incoherent but I am not going to have time to proof read this since I am at work.

Serious Question, Chris.........
I think I remember reading one of your posts saying you liked the A's because they had player's with personality and they kept fielding competitive teams on a small budget, but are you a Bigger Ranger fan than it seems and just contrarion to keep from being disappointed ?

Rangers fan first and foremost
The post you are referring to was in response to someone asking to join the Marlins bandwagon. I presume it's because they believed the Rangers were out of the race. If that is the case, and I had to choose another team to root for it would be the A's. But that is the ONLY reason I would root for them and I never do so when they play the Rangers.

Question for you

No problem with critics.........
Being a homer, it's sometimes harder to be objective, but I think the Ranger's are alot better than they've played (granted the pitching could be better) in this division, at least.
Something needs to be done, and I've never heard of anyone "firing" 25 players, but I've been on the "fire Buck" bandwagon for a long time, after, admittedly being happy when they hired him. But, after watching (closely, I might add, Ha!) I think his anal ways wear on guys over 162 games, just like they did in New york & Arizona before.
I'm not saying we'd win the World Series next year if we fire him......(that has to one of the world's oddest coincidences) but a shake-up of some sort needs to happen.

The Rangers are exactly as good
Thats the beauty of a 162 game season, you are whatever your record says you are.

I really....
Ranger fans suck. Dallas fans suck. I guess you can blame the Cowboys for all the bandwagoners in Big D and Ft. Worth. The fans haven't had to suffer enough I guess (overall sports I mean..REAL ranger fans have suffered plenty).
To be honest....I hate having a park in Arlington. I'm as big a fan as you can find and I could barely make 20-25 games a year because I wouldn't get home until 11ish if I went to a game. That's too friggin late boys. When I lived in Baltimore I could walk to the games so I went all the time. I'm sure the Ft. Worth folks would be pretty much where I was if they moved the team to downtown Dallas but I think that would do wonders for attendance.
Of course a winning team would cure all too.

i agree
a stadium in downtown dallas wouldnt do anything for attendance, except bring more dallasites to the games at the expense of people on the ft. worth side not going to as many. besides, dallas isnt designed around downtown, which urban living is on the rise its still not where a majority of people live.
nothing can beat a winning team....if the rangers get into the playoffs a few years, suddenly they will have a mav's like following.

I find it so frustrating...
They're like, "How do you watch that stuff? The Rangers suck."
Then I procede to tell them, "Well they didnt suck when they were in first place for half of this season."
Then they say, "Oh."
And that's all the Ranger convo I ever get around here.

The fans
as far as the noise, yeah its nice...but there are also people like myself, i just enjoy sitting and paying attention to the game. i'd rather watch the game and be focused on that than try to sit around making noise, but thats just me.
as far as traffic, when 18k people leave that stadium at once there ends up being a fair amount of traffic. granted its nowhere near as bad as opening day or after a game vs the yankees where 50k people are leaving, but its still a bit of traffic.
overall the fan's will support the team when the team starts giving them more reason to, its just the nature of the game. and its a catch 22, because if more people supported the team they would likely perform better.
