Woo! KC up 5-3 in game 2

This may not deserve its own diary, but as there isn't a KC-Oakland Diary up...

KC just scored 4 in the 8th to take a 5-2 lead.  3 more outs and Texas is back within 5.5 games.

Incredible that KC could be about to sweep a twin-bill against the mighty A's.

This kills me...
Every time you think the Rangers are out of it...

I just hope they can stay within 5-6 games coming out of this Detroit series.

6 back
in the loss column certainly feels better than 8, that's for sure.

Awesome
Just saw this on ESPN.com.

Great news for us.

Wild Card
Weren't we closer to the wild card (I think 5,5 back) recently?

Chicago
is currently in the wc lead, and we're like 10 games back of them

Guess not
Must have misheard that. We are at least 10-11 back of Chicago for one.

I'm officially a Royals fan now
If they could just beat them a couple more times this weekend, and we eke out a win from "Lil Jon" Koronka or In-a-Teja-Da-Tejeda, we'll be in good straits...

10-29 is the official number
Appears to be getting close to 10-30. Brutal.

yep
The way the Rangers were playing at the end of July, I really thought they'd be the ones to roll over.  But, to their credit they haven't yet.  Seattle's gone from respectable to laughing stock in no time flat.
The future is an infinite succession of presence.

In a battle of ..
former Rangers who were objects of trades which sucked for the Rangers and helped the team to which they were traded, Esteban German, who was traded for Fabio Castro and is hitting .325,  drove in a key run against Justin Duchscherer.  Go Royals!  Sweep.

Esteban German/Fabio Catsro
That was a really good trade for the Rangers.

German -> Castro -> Haigwood
I agree.  Its a good trade to make from the talent coming versus going (I'd have found a way to hang onto Castro).

But the return they got from the Phillies could be pretty good.  With the exception of a very bad July, Daniel Haigwood looks like he could be a prospect.  He needs to cut down on the walks, but he's still plenty young enough to learn to do that.  His K/9 is very encouraging.

German had no room to advance here.

German
I always wondered if maybe he could/should have attempted a transition to CF. He's certainly fast enough.

Good trade for the Rangers?
Yeah, if they had been smart enough to hold on to Castro, but they weren't.
