Who should we resign?

I was just wondering, out of all our free agents, who do you want us to keep and who do you think we should let walk?

If I was Jon Daniels i would try to definantly bring back Derosa, GMJ, Lee, Stairs, Padilla, and Eaton.

DeRo - hes just tearing up this year.
GMJ - great defensively, good leadoff bat too
Lee - huge boost to the offense, whether hes hitting HRs at a high rate or not, hes still a big threat in the middle of the order
Stairs - really good pinch hitting option or lefty DH
Padilla - i would definantly think he would be a good #3 starter
Eaton - solid major league starter

I was just wondering if you guys think it's possible to bring back all these guys and if you agree or disagree with the players I hope we bring back.

Derosa- yes
GMJ- wait and see what happends with Vernon Wells.
Lee- yes if he will sign three years with team or mutual option for 4th. And agree to DH.
Stairs- yes
Padilla- has already stated that next year he will pitch for whoever offers the most money.
Eaton- yes

I agree completely with your assessment. I really dont think that GMJ and DeRo want to leave Texas as long as we offer them both fair contracts. I mean this is where both of their career years have happened. They are well liked and Derosa has some sort of non-sexual man crush on Michael Young.

My thoughts

Derosa - arb - I'm still not sure that this season was a fluke, and really, I'd rather have someone else playing COF. I'm ok with him sticking around though for a year to see if he's for real.
GMJ - arb - Same as DeRosa.
Lee - arb - He's not going to stay for a reasonable amount, so just get the draft picks.
Stairs - try to resign him, but if he wants too much, let him go. He'd be a nice to have, but there are others like him out on the FA market.
Padilla - arb - I'd probably like to resign him, but I'd say that's not likely now that the idiot who's in the Rangers' FO keeps dogging him.
Eaton - arb - Has been mediocre, but I'd rather have him for 1 year than Zito for 5 at > Park like prices.

Basically, on most of them, I'd rather have the draft picks, or have them back for 1 year at most.

Derosa and Matthews I'd obviously much rather have on 1 year deals but I'd do 2. If that's not good enough, then don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

No use for Stairs.

Agreed on Eaton and Padilla.

No way I give Lee a 5 year deal, but some dumbass will.

Essentially, these are good problems to have. I think we only lose if we offer long-term contracts or don't offer arb. Plus, any of these guys with 1 year deals become good trade bullets next July.

I'm probably just dreaming though. DeRosa and GMJ will get 3/15 deals, Pops will be re-signed (probably also for a trustworthy 3), and Padilla and Eaton will walk for nothing.
