Food for thought

If the Rangers had the exact same record in the National League, that they do in the American League, ...

...wait for it...

They would be leading the wild card race by one half game.

Arizona is currently second in the NL wild card at .500.

Are they really going to let a team with a losing record in the playoffs?

Should baseball teams with a losing record be allowed in the playoffs?
Yes, they met the relative qualifying criteria.

Yes, because we can't let league revenues suffer by not holding a playoff series

Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

Except...
We'd be waaaaaay over .500 in the NL cause we'd be playing those sucky NL teams all the time.

I think there are two decent NL teams... the Mets and the Dodgers. Everyone else sucks.

why the dodgers?
They've been very streaky.  I live in LA, follow the Dodgers (somewhat).  I'm not terribly impressed.  But I could easily be missing something. I know they've had some bad luck with injuries.

Didn't realize that
Also, we'd only be 1.5 back of the Dodgers, or 2.5 back of the Cardinals. The Mets really need to win the pennant to save the NL a bit of face.

yes but its all in a cycle
in a few years the national league will most likely come back up to par. but until then no reason to bitch and moan. its not like we are in the central or the east, we are in the weakest division so just cool it.

Umm
I hate to be the downer here, but what was our record versus the NL this year.  I am pretty sure it was below .500.  I do think that we would have a lot better winning percentage if we were in the NL, but that is purely speculation.

And didn't the Rangers make it into the playoffs with a losing record or close to that.

If I am not mistaken the Padres were below 500 last when they won their division.  I swear we should look into the soccer set up and send the Royals to the minors.  It is the only good thing about soccer.

Well
Their worst record in a year that they went to the playoffs was 88 and 74, in 1998, but they were leading their division at the time of the strike in 1994 at 52 and 62.  And the Padres were at 82 and 80 when they won the division last year.

Didt
the Padres win the last 3 games of the season or something like that?  I knew there was time the Rangers were leading with a losing record.

That's not really
a big enough sample to say the NL owns the Rangers. If we were to play in the Nl central, I guarantee we would be leading the division.
