A's Huston Street put on DL

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Oakland Athletics placed closer Huston Street on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained right groin.

The right-hander, who is sixth in the AL with 29 saves, was injured while taking the loss in the second game of a doubleheader against Kansas City on Friday night. The move is retroactive to Aug. 19.

This will clearly help Texas. However, as a former Longhorn, I really get conflicted when something bad has to happen to Huston Street for the Rangers to benefit. I don't like rooting against him.

There seems

To be quite a lot of upset on some of the A's fanboards that Macha has overused (or badly used) Street. The basis was both innings and frequency, and a little about returning him too soon early this season. And yes, want the Rangers to win out, but would hate to see any talented young pitcher mule-labored and maybe mess up his career.

On a side not, Patrick .. saw on Yahoo news that Princeton is the #1 educational institution in the country, surpassing Harvard, Stanford, and Yale. Good timing for your brothers' tenure there!

I don't know how much it will help, actually.

Sure, them losing any player helps us, but Duchscherer and Calero have both been about as good as Street has this year. The recently-returned Joe Kennedy will move into setup duties.
