Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Weird moment in yesterday's game.

This probably isn't diary worthy, but I wanted to see if anyone else noticed this and found it as strange as I did.

In yesterday's game, someone hit a comebacker to Robertson, and he made an amazing stab at the ball behind his back, stopped it and threw to first to end the inning.

This was a phenomenal play, one that was made the top play on Sportscenter last night.

Well, what was weird was the fill in announcer for the Rangers didn't so much as raise his voice when calling the play. He didn't remark at all on it being a nice play. In fact had you been listening to the tv broadcast with no video, you would have though it was a generic comebacker.

Not only that, but from what I saw of the rest of the game, they never replayed it, never talked about it one bit.

I just found this really strange. Anyone else?

People
worry about the announcers a little too much around here. Probably a homer move, oh well, not really weird 'cause it does happen alot of times, especially when you see a lot of WhiteSox games...

I'm not
I don't really care what their motive was. I just found it really, really odd, to not so much as say "nice play".

Just odd.

Saw that
It was an amazing reflexive grab.  I don't know what the topic of the day was at the time, but think I recall whatever talk was going on, kept going.

Bill Land
Is the worst local sports announcer by a large margin, even if he is only a fill-in.

He seems to regularly mess up the players names, he no personality and can't seem to carry on any sort of a cohesive conversation with his fellow announcer.

He also seems to raise his voice at unnatural times and then not even react to other significant moments of the game.

Although some people don't like Josh Lewin, he is really an interesting announcer who, although overly talkative about silly subjects, really has great chemistry with Grieve. He also seems to know when to to get excited, whether it be for his team or the opponent, and when not to get excited.

Fill In's
I liked when they used rojas as a fill in when they were in houston.
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

Rojas
Nadel, Lewin, and Grieve are all very good announcers. I must say, outside of some horrible fill-ins, the Rangers have some great announcers.

its like
that part from major league II where uker is passed out drunk and that guy who never talks has to fill in. a guy makes an amazing diving catch and all he says is, "fly ball... caught."

Bill Land didn't even raise his voice for Tex's HR
It was godawful. I couldn't tell whether they were showing a replay or a live shot.

I really wish we could have Victor fill in on the TV when Lewin isn't around.

I saw it
They did replay it as they were going to commercial, but neither of the TV guys saw fit to say anything about it.  I, too, thought it was weird.  They're not usually the type to just ignore ignore a play like that, no matter which team made it.  I actually had DVR where I was yesterday and must've watched that play five times.

Lewin
Has anyone else noticed the Lewin jinx? I'm not sure it happens enough to be categorized as a full fledged jinx, but whenever someone is on a streak or has done something impressive, Lewin will point it out and often times something bad happens.

Most recent example - about two weeks ago when Bauer was pitching, Lewin pointed out that he was yet to allow a HR this season. He gave up a HR within the next pitch or two.

Wes
He had just pointed out Littleton's 0.00 ERA and then almost instantly he gave up a homerun.

Yep, he's definitely a jinxer...........
he can't help himself. he must've been the kid that sacked up the equipment early in little league, 'cause you know he wasn't playing !

No hitter
I remember a couple of years ago, a pitcher had not given up a hit to the Rangers.  Lewin kept mentioning it over and over and over again....I think to try to "reverse-jinx" it.   It worked, thankfully.

I'd like to see Victor in the booth when Lewin is doing the Game of the Week or Chargers games.

haha
I saw this a while back, too, so I looked to find out what it was.  If I was a girl they'd have to pay me a LOT of money to do that!

believing in jinx's
is like believing in santa and the easter bunny.

How can a reasonable person think that what josh lewin says has any effect whatsoever on how the team plays?
