Carlos Lee's new agent

Carlos Lee just left agent Andy Katz and will now be represented by none other than...Scott Boras!!!

Any questions now about whether or not we should resign Lee?

Every year
There is a hot free agent type who was a decent player for a few years and really exciting in his free agent year.  They usually end up in a place like Baltimore or the Cubs for WAY too much money. Look at Javy Lopez -.328/43/109 season gave him a huge contract with the O's despite being a .280/15 guy for many years before that.  I don't want to mention pitching, because we're usually on the wrong side of that debacle (Darren Oliver, Mark Clark, ugh...)

Its one thing to take a risk and miss on a guy like Chan Ho who was good (though flawed) for several years, but it is another thing to overpay a guy who is a legit star only one year.  More often than not, you are sitting there staring at a Phil Nevin or Ryan Klesko contract and a .270/20 hitter who can't field.  And Boras is the perfect guy to box you into one of those deals

Offer Lee arbitration, and worse case scenario is that no one pays him his ridiculous demands and we get him for one more year.  He'll be good next year, but not much longer than that.

So here the Rangers will prove
All those lies about not being able to sign their own guys because they were Boras clients will be just that-lies.

Because Lee will be signed to a huge team crippling contract as soon as possible. The Rangers cant call Tex but they're burning up Lee's phone line as we speak. Oh, those whacky Rangers.

10 years 160 million.

Because we all know
The Rangers have money to burn..obviously..as long as you didn't wear a Ranger uniform last season, and you aren't very good, then money is no object.
