Best MLB Manager

I sure do agree with all the flack that Buck receives on here. With that said, who do you guys consider to be the best manager in baseball?

He is not the best, yet he is becoming a really good one.  He brought all of these rookies and very young guys and are competing for a playoff spot with a 14 million dollar team.  Joe Girardi has really got the best out of the lowest payroll in the MLB.

Ozzie Guillen
I'm sure I'll get a lot of flack for saying so, but hey, the guy wins and the players seem to like him (as long as they hit the batter when they're supposed to).

Terry Francona
He seems to get the best out of his players.
enough is enough. i've had it with these snakes.

i don't really like him
he seems to make poor in-game decisions as well...
from what i've seen, and per some red sox fans that i know.

Phil Garner
It must be Phil Garner.

jim leyland
of course.

or, how about the person who sticks to percentages the most.  i think that manager will do the best over a 162 game season.

its like those people that get "a feeling" and hit on 17 in blackjack

Leyland
Agreed. Look how he has helped turn around the Tigers in one season.

im not for sure who it is
but it isnt buck

your good with any of girardi, leyland, gardenhire (twins manager) is good, torre, im really suprised larussa isnt on there (he plays the percentages a LOT), cant ever forget about bobby cox!

i really like larussa or cox, possibly leyland - but im an old-school kinda guy...

btw, in san francisco they are equally, if not more, pissed at alou than we are at buck (if anyone cares)

ehhhh
Can I say Bobby Valentine even though he's in Japan?

by cmkelly29 on Aug 7, 2006 10:20 PM CDT reply actions

tough question
guys that stand out are terry francona, jim tracy, and terry gardenhire.  bobby cox and tony larussa are a bit overrated but are still pretty damn good if you ask me.

i'd say there's more candidates for worst manager...dusty baker, mike scioscia, ozzie guillen are all terrible in terms of in-game decision-making, but are better 'handlers' of personalities and players.  mike hargrove is a bit of a clown.

Whoever follows
Showalter will be the best because he will win the WS.  Just look what happened to him at NY and Arizona.  Its time to enact the Buck Rule.

On
the field he was bad,  but if you liked the night life,  Billy Martin for sure,  hands down.

aside
from his being dead and all..

bobby cox
You cant deny the braves playoff streak.  They havent even had a "great" team in a long time and they still make it to the playoffs every year.

by dubman @ Lone Star Ball on Aug 8, 2006 9:52 AM CDT reply actions

It would take a miracle
for them to pull it off this year.
enough is enough. i've had it with these snakes.

by chief on Aug 8, 2006 10:34 AM CDT up reply actions

still
hes the best manager. 14 of 15 is almost unbelievable.

I haven't heard much about Buddy Bell..
other than the fact that his team is in the root cellar.
He was one of the most popular players to ever wear a Rangers' uniform.
