This team is making me angry

Dammit, after watching the last two days, after I go ahead and accepting the fact that they are done, I then have to see them explode against the A's today.

And that little voice in my head says, "They are just 5.5 games back now.  They can make that up..."

Bah.  Stupid Rangers, giving me hope and then dashing it against the rocks.

Baseball is a funny game
When I left work, the score was 1-0.  After a brief stop in town, I get home and the its 13-0.  I, like you, think all they need is a hot streak at home.  I'm the eternal optimist.

I can remember growing up in the 80's that I'd be happy being five games back to start September.  Looks like I might be happy this year, but not elated.

Don't go...
into the light Adam!  Don't go into the light!

They are done...period.

Blow this team up, they have no chemistry, no heart and no balls. They should be ashamed to be called "professionals."

Thats what...
the Rangers do. They've done it all year, you get excited they let you down. You write them off, they get you back excited.

This game defies the entire season..
.. we hit the ball.. we hit the ball a lot.. we hit homers.. we pounded Zito (who OWNS the Rangers).. we pitched well ... we won a day game.. we had shutdown innings after scoring runs... Barajas got a walk... JHJ, Barajas started, Laird, Blalock on the bench.. now only if they'd put in Benoit the last of the curses would be broken...

this roadtrip
altogether defines the season. it seems disappointing, we lose 4 in a row, but when you look at it as a whole they go .500. and it was a very hard trip against three hot teams. they are in a position where they can get hot down the stretch and take it, i wouldn't bet on it, but they certianally aren't done.

You know on "Cops"
or just about any movie on "Lifetime" when the stupid girlfriend/wife gets slapped around by her man and the cops arrive, cuff him and start to put him in the back seat?  The girlfriend/wife is standing on the rickety wooden porch of the trailer house with one eye swollen shut and blood running from her nose.  What does she always say?  "Don't take him in!  I love him!"  The dumb b*tch is us.

that has to be the funniest yet most perfect way of looking at that as i've ever read.
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

No kidding!
Just the past couple of years has aged me 20 years
  • Hafner Trade
  • Drew Meyer
  • Juan Gone injury deal
  • A-Rod almost traded to Boston
  • A-Rod traded on Valentines Day
  • Renaming stadium
  • Fuson's "Et Tu Orel"
  • Financial Flexibility
  • Astacio
  • Rambo Rogers
And I've only been a fan since around 95-96, I really feel bad for lifetime Ranger fans.
Fire Buck, release Dickey, stop extending Hart and tear down the Gold Club glass!

They've done this before
I can think of several times in the last month when the Rangers have absolutely obliterated an opponent only to then come out flat.  Don't worry, they'll be our Rangers again by tomorrow.

Tomorrow's game
5-1 Mariners.

A struggling Joel Pineiro will shut these guys down at TBiA.

That's what my voice says as well
And the way this year has gone, they'll win three or four in a row...and then lose three or four in a row.

Damn Rangers always getting my hopes up.

Why do I listen to you mouth breathers?
I know it doesn't happen very often, but it's possible that the Rangers win 6 more games than the A's. That said, if the Rangers can get a good return on someone through waivers, they should still do it. It just depends on the player claimed and the trade.
Fire Buck, DFA everyone, burn down the stadium.

Let's Make A Deal
In the next week, the Rangers play the Mariners four times and the Angles twice. All division foes. All winnable.

If the Rangers win five of those six, which I don't think is impossible, I'll believe.

Is that fair?

except the A's play Tampa and KC during that span...

I don't see us catching up that much...

The Strangers
They'll probably finish just barely over .500 before meandering their way through the playoffs on their way to winning a World Series title.  And they won't win another until our grandchildren are old and wasting away.

That would be just like the Rangers to win the series with a team no self-respecting baseball fan could be proud of.

by Dustin on Aug 9, 2006 10:12 PM CDT reply actions

lol
and someone like JHJ would be the ws mvp.  It's sad how this team has had such a gift of unexpected contribution from guys like GMJ, Derosa, and solid contributions from youngsters like Kinsler and Laird and still be this mediocre and listless.

by t ball on Aug 9, 2006 10:37 PM CDT up reply actions

No Way
The MVP would be Barajas.  For their efforts he and Bucko would be awarded baseball a baseball first: a matching pair of his and her's lifetime contracts.

Rangers
I've told people that for all the griping and moaning that Cubs, Red Sox, and White Sox fans do, those people should try being a Ranger fan. At least all three of those clubs have won a World Series, even if in the Cubs' case, the last time was 1908.

Astros fans have last year's World Series appearance. The Royals have one title. San Diego has two World Series appearances. I think the only franchises that can match the Rangers for overall futility are Colorado, Tampa, and the Expos/Nationals, and none have been in existence as long as the Rangers/Senators. Every other club has at least one League Championship Series appearance; most have at least one World Series title or have at least lost a World Series.

So let's hear it for us, the Ranger fans, who have stuck by a team that's hardly won a thing in 40-plus years of existence! If anyone deserves a World Series title, it's us!
