The Echoing Green by Joshua Prager
I just finished a great book on "The shot heard round the world". Which I personally think is the greatest moment in baseball history.
Anyway, if you are into good baseball books,it is one of the best I have read. I think it really tells the story of how that moment affected the rest of the lives of Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca. The book centers around the sign stealing of the New York Giants during the 1951 season and how it played a part in the "Bobby Thomson home run" and the lives of the two unlikely celebrities.
Check it out, I think baseball historians will enjoy it.

Great Moments in Sports History
My top iconic moments (in no real order)
- HE DID IT! FLUTIE DID IT!
- Laetner catches, jumps down, dribbles, shoot. GOOOOOOOOD!
- THE BAND IS OUT ON THE FIELD!
- DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLE? YEEEEEES!
- The Catch
- Chris Webber's non-existent Time Out
- Jimmy V running around looking for somebody to hug
- Carlton Fisk waving the ball fair
- Immaculate Reception
- Kirk Gibson's Fist pump around 2nd base
I think I had this discussion on a different board before, but what are some other moments where you instantly visualize what happened?

Kirk Gibson was obviously rounding 1st
and I don't care if he had a cortisone injection, its a corticosteroid not an anabolic steroid. Which is why that's always been a stupid argument made by stupid sports writers.

Bird
versus Detroit. Summed up his amazing career.
Baseball. Nolan Ryan's 6th no hitter.
Football, Bettis' fumble and Big Ben saving the season for the Steelers. I was going crazy. Whole spectrum of emotions on that one.
