Okay
I don't think I'm going to watch any more of the playoffs.
In fact, I don't know if I am going to want to watch football against until, maybe, 2008.
What a trainwreck, stomach punch of a game.
Between the screwy calls by the refs and the bad breaks that went against the Cowboys, it is as if the Cowboys were destined to lose.

Re-read the post, jackass.

It's basketball season baby and the Mavs are the best team in the NBA.

All I can do is...
Is this voodoo payback for all the sucesss in the first 30 years of the franchise? Haven't we suffered enough?
It's not bad enough that our team becomes the national focus and gets shoved down everyone's throat before they've really accomplished anything. Now we have to put up with just plain bad luck to go along with poor play from over-rated players.
I can't wait for the will Bill/TO/Bledsoe/Ellis/Roy/Jerry Jones/Jesus be coming back next season discussion to take over next week's Tickers/Sportscenters.
Vomit.

Here's My Hopes For 2007
For my two cents, I'd like to see a full season of a healthy Terrell Owens catching balls from a starting Tony Romo with Marion Barber getting the lion's share of the touches in the running game until the Cowboys can get a Lorenzo Neal level fullback to block for Julius Jones running behind an offensive line that doesn't include Marco Rivera.
I'd also like to see all that happen in an offense not run by Chris Palmer with a defense definitely not run by Mike Zimmer.
I don't think we get those last two things with Bill Parcells as head coach.
I'm also of the opinion that Parcells is done on his terms. I've read so much in the last two days about how Bill Cowher just "didn't have the fire" anymore or how he "needed some time to recharge his batteries".
If Bill Cowher needs some time off in North Carolina, Bill Parcells needs a tropical island all to himself for about a decade. He's cooked. He's been cooked since last season. Look at his body language on the sidelines all season and listen to his answers to questions in the pressers post-game: Not only is he at a loss as to what to do about the problems his team faced, but he didn't really seem too motivated to actually look into them and at least try and fix them.
When you look, sound and act like a guy who's just lost six straight hands of poker and you're throwing your home mortage and wedding band in the pot for the seventh hand, it's time to bow out.

Screwy Calls
I watched the game at a bar (so no sound) with a bunch of folks who were neutral, and there wasn't any discussion of the J-boys getting screwed.

Screwy calls
Reversing the spot on the Witten catch appeared very questionable.
There was at least one other defensive holding penalty the Cowboys got hit with that seemed very, very questionable as well.

Screwy calls
Reversing the spot on the Witten catch was the right call.
I don't see how you can say it favored one team or the other.

Tipped Interception?
There pass interference was one of the weakest you'll ever see.
Newman's call for holding earlier in the half was a phantom call. Not even debateable.

The Newman PI Was Legit
If you watched the replay of it, you saw Newman getting down on some very sly, very professional PI against Nate Burleson. You could only see it from the camera shot looking into the end zone from behind the end zone (in other words, the camera looking at roughly the same thing the back judge would see depending on where he was in position).
He waited until the receiver's natural arm motion from running brought his arm back into Newman's body and he hooked his hand around the crook of the receiver's elbow and held his arm just long enough to keep him from being able to extend that arm.
It was seriously smooth and I was amazed the refs caught it.
Then again, maybe they didn't catch it and threw the flag on the minimal contact. If that was the case, that was one weak, unprofessional call.
