ARod contract

As I understand the deal with the Yankees, the Rangers owed the Yankees $67 million, with $43 million being owed for future contacts, and $24 million being owed for the deferred portion of the contract that ARod had already spent with the Rangers.  They are still on the hook for the remainder of the 24 million that gets paid out from 2016-2025.

This is what the Rangers should get out of.

2008 $8 million
2009 $7 million
2010 $6 million

So basically, the Rangers should have enough cash for a league average player at one position.  Since in 2008, the problem is one of not enough players available, rather than not enough money, the ARod money will have essentially no impact in 08, and limited impact in 09 and 10.
