2011 and beyond...

Assuming we keep our guys in the system and don't trade any away, what will our lineup look like after these kids get to the majors? Who are the 5 pitchers and position players once we've "rebuilt" this team? Besides Saltalmacchia, Kinsler or Metcalf, i don't want to see any current names in the lineup. And besides McCarthy, i don't want to see any current names in the rotation.

I understand that this is a pipe dream and things aren't this clean cut, but what is the best team we could put on the field in 2011 using ONLY our farm system?

Its baseball...
Which means the starters in 2011 will be noone we think right now...

For example, Benoit was said to be our number one starter years ago...

Well...
Metcalf won't be in the line-up in 2011 and you might very well see Volquez in the rotation then.

But if you want strictly from the farm:

C - T. Teagarden
1B - Salty
2B - I. Kinsler
3B - C. Davis or J. Whittleman or G. Duran
SS - E. Andrus or G. Duran (Though probably M. Young still)
LF - J. Mayberry Jr.?
CF - J. Borbon or hopefully Engel Beltre but likely a shitty contract like T. Hunter.
RF - Um...yeah.

SP1 - E. Hurley
SP2 - B. McCarthy
SP3 - B. Beavan (but probably not until the year after)
SP4 - E. Volquez (or possibly pitching lights out in the pen)
SP5 - K. Kiker (Also possible future in the pen)

The odds of this happening like this though are about 0%.

I think main
will progress more as a starter then kiker. but then again u forgot about him.  Diamond i believe is still viewed as a starter.

Id say your 1-5 looks like this

BMAC, Hurley, Volquez, Diamond, Main/Beaven.

BMac is ahead of hurley potential wise and diamond might end up as a future setup closer type.  same with kiker.

Hey but what do i now Zywica will come in here and tell us whos gonna be where and when because he follows the minors more than any of us.

Metcalf?
You don't want to see, say, Botts or Murphy or Young or Blalock, but you want to see Metcalf?

MURPHY
YES. YOUNG YES.  BLALOK AND BOTTS I QUESTION.  WILL OUR FARM PRODUCE BETTER PLAYERS TO FIT THOSE POSITIONS COME 2011?  PROBABLY.  SAME COULD BE SAID ABOUT YOUNGS POSITION.  HE COULD BECOME OUR DH

Okay
This is a fun exercise, if not very realistic.

C- Teagarden
1b- Salty
2b- Kinsler
SS- Andrus
3b- Young
LF- Chris Davis
CF- Beltre
RF- Whittleman
DH- Botts or Max Ramirez

Unaccounted for: Blalock, Duran, Borbon, JMJ, Lemon...

  1. Hurley
  2. BMac
  3. Kiker
  4. Main
  5. Beavan
Closer: Tommy Diamond

Accounting for Borbon
I got that one for ya, Huntressa.

He'll be clocking on to the night shift. Assistant Peep Show Janitor.

And where is CJ on your list? Hopefully in the rotation...

I will not get my comeuppance!

ok
i meant you could use Metcalf and Kinsler from the current roster if you WANTED. I would like to see our team past Young/Blalock. It doesn't have to be 2011 necessarily. I honestly see better OF prospects than Murphy in they system though.

I DO NOT want to see Saltalamacchia at first though! We could get more pop from first base than Salty. i think he'd be a GREAT catcher though. If we can get his pop at catcher that leaves a spot for another big bat at 1B.

I'd like to see:

C-Salty
1B-(big bat)
2B-Kinsler
3B-Davis
SS-Andrus
CF-Beltre
LF-Borbon
RF-Mayberry

1.Beavan
2.Hurley
3.McCarthy
4.Main
5.Volquez/Kiker
