OT: Mike Leach is Whiny little bitch

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3104347

Randy Chrystal is aurguably the best white hat in college football.  He has been chosen to do the BCS championship multiple times.  According to Leach, he was partial to UT because he lives in Austin.  I know Randy personally and there is no way in hell he doesn't call the games by the book.  If Leach needs something to blame that loss on he needs to look in the mirror, his defenses have been some of the worst in college football during his tenure.

Haha
Everyone I know in Austin who is not affiliated with UT (student, alum, employee, etc), absolutely hates the Texas Longhorns.

Yup
Only UT students/alumni and poor people like UT.

I know this because the only places to see UT gear are at UT or in your local Wal-Mart.

Reminds me
of the "Texas Tech Football Fan Doll."

OU got screwed 2 years ago in Lubbock
by an official that lived in Lubbock!  With that said, I still love Leach.

I can understand,
...his 7-5 seasons are a lot more to watch than Spike Dike's.

Was at the game and saw it...
also coming from a U of U alum I think our coach kinda deserved it...you don't do a on-side kick when you are uo 43-0!

Too much $$ involeved
I love the part about too much money being involved in this game to have somebody from Austin as a ref.  What, is Leach betting on the games?

by Excel Hearts Choi on Nov 12, 2007 3:09 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah.....
because it's just crazy to think that a ref could be caught fixing games in this day and age.

by bdavison94 on Nov 12, 2007 3:10 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah,
so lets question everyone's integrity in an entire profession because some dumbass that ref's an entirely different sport at a different level broke the law.  Thank you for sharing your intelligent thoughts with us.

So you are saying
this can't happen in college football? People do strang things for money.

Wow I thought we were talking
about refs. Things happen just ask the UT team "Bookem' Horns" that said I'm not going to turn this into a OU/Texas or anyother team thread.

I know
I just couldn't resist... sorry...

The idea that Texas benefits from anything that other top-tier Big XII schools don't benefit from baffles me.  Big school college football is a very corrupt sport, and it wouldn't surprise me if the officiating deck was also stacked against teams that aren't "supposed" to win.  I'm sure for every pro-Texas official there is a pro-Oklahoma, pro-Nebraska, a pro-LSU and a pro-Miami (and etc) official.  Probably aren't too many pro-Kansas officials out there, at least not in football.  But who knows.

But you know what?  That is what college football is.  It has always been a corrupt good-ole boys club where the players get paid and the families get taken care of, which makes it all the sweeter the one time every twenty years that Rice beats Texas or a division AA school knocks off a top ten program.

by JBImaknee on Nov 12, 2007 4:17 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

lol No problem
I agree with that. Not to mention if you have a big time college football program that is in the top 10 year in and year out chances are they are cheating.

No, just saying
a guy got caught so now we can assume everyone in the profession is questionable? if a coach wants to deflect blame for having a shitty defense that lost him the game to a guy with high integrity and this is OK now?  I think that's high-level BS.

I wanted to compare it to every president gets head under the oval office desk since Clinton did it but decided to retract.

Let's just go calm down a little here......
No need to be an ass.

I never said anything about Leach, his defense, if the game was poorly officiated or if I thought your friend was on the take.  My point was that it happens far more than people realize or want to believe and for many reasons.  Not just money.  I wouldn't limit this discussion to the refs either.

As for your comment about you knowing him personally and his reputation.  I'm sure that NBA ref had plenty of friends and family that would have never thought he'd have been involved in something like that.

by bdavison94 on Nov 12, 2007 4:24 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I feel ya BD..
..but imagine how it feels to have accusations hit a national media outlet that aren't true.  He just caught the brunt of the generality you and Leach just made.  Thats all I was trying to say.  I don't think you can question a man's integrity just because you disagree with him.  There are questionable calls in all games, that game was no different.  But to say he lives in Austin, he's trying to help UT win or cover a spread is indefensible without anything more than "other referees are doing it, and I questioned his calls"

It's good that you're....
defending your buddy.  I bet if you asked him he'd laugh it off though.  You have to have thick skin to make it as far in the ref game as he has.

by bdavison94 on Nov 12, 2007 9:31 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

i'm not sure ref's have thick skin
if you had thick skin, you would assume that you wouldn't hold a grudge, which refs tend to do.  the only thing we know is that they usually don't go to the press to heir their grievances which makes it look like they don't care.

Not saying your friend is a bad ref but
did you see some of the calls against Tech? I'm not saying Tech would have won but those calls were very questionable.

officials
There's no doubt that officials/refs/umpires don't like certain coaches and players and this may shade the judgments of some of the less professional ones. They hold grudges and some of the judgment calls can go the way they want them to. Some officials can't take the heat and favor the home team. And we know there are a few crooked ones (Donaghy) out there. But, there's no way that entire officiating crews get together to try to swing a game to one team or the other. Just doesn't happen.

Look at Kansas Vs Texas
Three years ago.

KU was one first down away from beating UT and ruining their hopes for the BCS.

Offensive pass interference, on the side of the field where the ball did not goto.

Its all about money baby.

Nice Argument corbs
I love the argument, He is friends with this guy so that guy is "arguably the best white hat in college football"????  If you knew R.A. Dickey would he be arguably the best pitcher in baseball? Do you know any other professionals who are arguably the best in their profession?? Was he one of the refs in UT's BCS Championship? If that is the bowl game you are referencing that is not a real strong argument for the fact he has some UT-bias. I was a neutral fan at the 2006 Tech-UT game in Lubbock and the refs did make some terrible calls in UT's favor including a bogus pass interference call when the ball skipped to a texas reciever and not calling unsportsmanlike conduct when one of the griffins hit Hicks with a cheap shot on a pass over his head, ending his season!

LMAO
If I didn't know him I'd still say he's one of the best.  The NCAA seems to think so when they ask him to be the head umpire for the national championship nearly every year and a different BCS if he doesn't.  You don't get that far without being very good at your job.  Nice post.

question
did you read the whole thing?

He has been chosen to do the BCS championship multiple times

from a quick google search
