OT: One less Redskins DB to worry about.

seems shawn taylor got blasted last night, i know you guys are wondering how such a class act could have this come up.  I truly hope for the best with the guy,  i hope he makes it, he is in critical care and lost a ton of blood

cowboys know the feeling though, we have a safety who i like but he kept getting shot, so we had to replace him with a safety who got stabbed.

anyway, one less redskin secondary guy to worry about.  hope he lives and can carry on a full life.

Safety?
Maybe Keith Davis and Taylor can form a support group.  IIRC Davis was shot twice.  Hope the guy pull through.

Don't worry.....
i think it just grazed his taint...
Elijah Dukes.....now there's a guy who stays in the "box" too long

It might
have only grazed his taint, but he is in very serious condition and apparently he is fighting for his life.  I generally hate all Redskins players, but until he recovers he is in my thoughts. After that......back to hate.

this diary
so not necessary for multiple reasons

but making jokes about someone who was burglarized and shot while he was at home with his family doesn't really give you the moral high ground when determining who has class.

I can't believe you posted this...
Regardless of what you think of the guy, it has been reported that he is now in a coma.  You think it's something to poke fun at?  What a miserable little troll you must be.

by JB @ Lone Star Ball on Nov 26, 2007 3:20 PM CST reply actions

Yeah I'm sorry
Kind of ridiculous to try to boil this down to "one less Redskin to worry about." Come on now, he is a human being and a father no less.

Athletes have been robbed a lot lately and Sean Taylor was one of the unlucky ones. This has little to do with his past. No one deserves that.

What a compassionate thread.

by LBrooks on Nov 26, 2007 4:00 PM CST reply actions

This is
infiniti times more serious than football.  Noone deserves this.  People are trying to talk about his past, but that has nothing to do with this.

To make it worse, he is a father of a young child.  My heart goes out to him and his family.

well.........
this looks like a classy thread now.......

dude died right?
cliffs on his past so i can figure out whether to feel sad for him or not?

by kumar75150 on Nov 27, 2007 5:42 AM CST reply actions

right
how about you feel sad because someone was shot to death at his home.  his career should have little impact on your feelings

by ab03 on Nov 27, 2007 10:07 AM CST up reply actions

Not really.
Certainly, the PC thing to say is "Gee, that's awful" anytime somebody gets killed.  But sometimes, people can be such scumbags that their demise does not create feelings of sadness or sympathy.  I don't know anything about Taylor.  In general, it is tragic when one human kills another, so that is my reaction to this whole episode.

However, I've been involved with several murder cases during my career.  One of the "victims" was one of the sorriest human beings I've ever heard of, let alone seen.  I've got no sympathy for him.  Likewise, we had a sick bastard a couple of years ago that killed his estranged wife, his 4 year old son, and his wife's baby with a butcher knife, then carve them up.  He's on death row now.  When they inject his ass, I doubt you'll find many people in Grayson County, Texas that will give him a second thought other than to say he got what he deserved.

So while there are definitely situations where you should feel sad at someone's untimely demise, there are others where, realistically, not caring doesn't make you less of a human being.  PC is great and all, but it can go overboard.

by Athos on Nov 27, 2007 11:23 AM CST up reply actions

i'm sorry
that your career has hardened you to the fact that a tragic killing (i.e. any killing at the hands of another when that person was not doing any harm to anybody else and was at his home with his family) is tragic regardless of a person's past.

and certainly, someone's career (i.e. performance at their place of work) should give you no insight as to whether you should feel bad about their death.

The original poster in this fork
was asking for cliffs on his past.

Not how well he did on the field.

Things like his arrest for DUI and Armed Assault may make folks feel like there is a chance that when all the facts come out, he won't necessarily be an innocent victim here.

Don't be sorry.
In my line of work I have to see the less humane side of humanity on a fairly regular basis.  As far as Taylor is concerned, without knowing anything about him, on the surface this sounds like a tragic set of events.  I know it is PC to extend thoughts and prayers and such, but I just don't know the man or anything about him.  All things being equal, I hate to hear about a man dying, especially if he was a good man.  If it turns out he was involved with some illegal or evil activities that ultimately got him killed, I doubt I'll lose any sleep over it.  That may be a "hardened" thing to say, but that is just reality.  And I'm not going to make false professions of mourning so that people I don't know on a blog I frequent will think I'm sensitive and caring.  If that's offensive, so be it.

Adam, or poster...
just delete the thread.

I mean...
When it comes down to it, it was just a really dumb thing to say if all you knew was that he was shot, and not going to be playing...

But now that he's passed away, the title of this diary looks just sick.
