Kevin Mench DFA'd
Just days after Laynce Nix was designated for assignment, his fellow Brewer and former Ranger teammate Kevin Mench has also been designated for assignment.
No big surprise...I'm guessing the Brewers will try to find a trade partner for him, but will likely end up just releasing him.

Man, Mench sure had a nice future for awhile. I'm sure no one needs reminding of how Showalter gratuitously held his bat out of so many lineups.
I need reminding!

nice to see this name again

That trade helped the Rangers make one failed attempt at the playoffs but at least JD tried. The cost for that attempt? One year of CoCo and that's it. Most under-rated JD trade to date.

5 million?
Sign guys to 1 yr. deals for millions of dollars so he can trade for prospects at the trade deadline.
Last year he spent about 4 million of Daddy Hicks' money on the prospects he got for Gagne and Lofton.
So far, this year he's putting out 5 million (a risky 5 million) to an injury prone psycopath in hopes of getting another prospect that, may or may not become anything.
This act is getting old.
Send this boy to Oklahoma City.
Correction
About 8 MILLION
Bradley
Gagne got us our likely fourth starter this year, along with a platoon outfielder and an exciting outfield prospect. Lofton got us a bat who's done nothing but rake in the minors. I think that's worth $8 million of Hicks' money.
What's getting old is you calling a grown man a boy just because you're old and bitter.
Youd Do Realize
Ok, he's not a psychopath....just a hothead.
You do know that the guy has averaged 45 games for the last 3 years in the 2nd half, don't you?
You're gambling 5 million that this guy can even walk at the trade deadline.
I'd rather put that money in with the ARod money, the Tex money, the naming rights of the stadium money, right in Tommy Boy's back pocket. lol
umm

Here
Is the reason why Jon Daniels is such a good GM, the bar was set so low, that he can't help but me infinitely better.

Wow, is that a clueless post.
- a major league ready CF in Murphy
- a major league ready starter in Gabbard
- a possible future star in CF in Beltre
The team added 4 players who have a real chance to help the team, after the two players traded away had solid numbers in Arlington. What fault could you possibly find with those transactions?
These are exactly the kind of things Daniels should be doing right now.
Let's See Now.....
Uggie for AGon, Snare, and Will Smith
Everett for Frankie, Webster, and Rupe
Of those 6 guys, 2 have panned out. Of course, the best one - AGon - wonder boy traded away.
We still have Frankie who has shown he can be a seviceable middle relief guy.
So, between the Everett and Urbina trades we ended up paying about 7 mil for Frankie.
Now, we're paying about 8 mil for Gabbard, Murphy, Beltre, and Ramirez.
This boy doesn't have a clue.
