FJM, Phil Rogers, and vomit

Not every FJM post is worthy of its own diary... but this one made me throw up a little bit in my mouth, from laughter.

A random section of their fisking of a Phil Rogers article:

Doesn't this sort of sound like the 24-year-old who comes back to his old high school and brags about how crazy it used to be at Eisenhower High when him and Mikey Rags and Paul Shutson used to drink beer while doing the rope climb and remember that one time when Mikey took a shit inside the guidance counselor's file cabinet? That was awesome!!!

ouch
in sticking up for ivy league wunderkind GM's, he rags on Rogers supporting the Millwood signing.  Hey, our ivy league wunderkind GM did the best he could...or something.

Millwood
Yeah, in 2006 he was only slightly better than league average and last year he was below league average (although he was only terrible in May and June, and was pretty good in July and August).  Still, considering the current market and the fact that he was only paid 6 million in 2006 and 7.5 million last season, I can't complain.  You can pick any team in baseball and find a mediocre pitcher getting paid that type of money, and this offseason will see worse pitchers get better contracts.  The only difference is that in Arlington Millwood's expected to be our ace, whereas a pitcher of his quality with his contract on other teams could be a #3.

In Millwoods defense......
if we could land a #1, and slide Millwood back where he belongs (w/ BMac & Padilla sliding back to 3/4), I believe we'd see a huge improvement in results. Facing a lot of other teams #1's, hasn't helped.....and hopefully last year's awful start won't be repeated.
