They are having a field day, as you can see here (discussing an article online by Andy Pettitte about "purity"), and here (discussing a piece on Roger Clemens where he responds to Jose Canseco's claims regarding steroids).

Used HGH once in 2002 to recover from injury. Big deal. Rodney Harrison did the same thing and there wasn't a big uproar about it. How come NFL gets a pass from the white media?

report I read said once to recover from an injury and then again 4-6 more times after that??? I read that a few hours ago, but I think that is what I remember reading.

While recovering from injury two or four times. I was wrong my bad.

The report also says Pettitte, during his stay on the disabled list from April 21 to June 14, 2002 because of elbow tendonitis, "wanted to speed his recovery and help his team." The report says "McNamee traveled to Tampa at Pettitte's request and spent about 10 days assisting Pettitte with his rehabilitation. McNamee recalled that he injected Pettitte with human growth hormone that McNamee obtained from Radomski on two to four occasions. Pettitte paid McNamee for the trip and his expenses; there was no separate payment for the human growth hormone."

But before and after his rehab, he never used.

How come there is no investigation?

What does the NFL have to do with it?

If baseball wants to have an investigation then that is their prerogative. They chose to investigate their sport. If the NFL wants to have a similar investigation then they will.

The Mitchell report was begun by and for MLB.

If you're upset that Congress has only investigated MLB then write to your Representative or Senator.

And...Yes the NFL has a ton of PED use. So does the NBA, cycling, swimming, track, and on and on and on.....

The basic answer is that the sporting public accepts the fact that the NFL and football players use PEDs, and are okay with that, but not with baseball players using PEDs.

Congress has a lot to do with it.....

I assume Congress is more likely to investigate MLB than the NFL or NBA because of the anti-trust exemption.

Bonds of course is a big issue for MLB. As long as he is in the news the spotlight will shine bright.

will investigate whichever sport gives them the opportunity to do the most grandstanding. Since fans seem to be ambivalent about steroids in the NFL no congressman would think twice about giving a press conference about it.

If the football writers suddenly started a crusade and it caught on with enough fans, congress would be quickly falling all over themselves making speeches.

You know

Yesterday I was eagerly anticipated, The Mitchell Report. This morning, I wanted to see if anything had leaked. By 1:00, I was already fed up with this story. My reaction changed from, a six year old boy on Christmas Eve awaiting his Furby, to a cocaine induced Greggo, "Humph". So what, this isn't ground breaking information. We've all had our suspicions. Sosa isn't on the Report, no doubt he did it. Kenny Rogers, you can bring up that article back in 2002, but I am certain that he's juicing these last few years. Any doubt that Marshall McDougall was juicing? Even feel good stories, like Rick Ankiel, get overshadowed by the steroid cloud. Players were doing this back then, their doing it right now, and they'll do it in the future. If you get a good lawyer you should be able to fight these claims. Then what, are we going to say sense they were found innocent in court, they weren't doing it? I hope not. PEDs are going to be a part of sports forever. The sooner we accept that fact, the sooner we can enjoy sports, as a way of enterntainment.

kenny rogers

seriously, what the hell? i think he goes against every steroid related stereotype. he consistently loses speed on his fastball, is old, has had essentially the same body type forever. this kind of stuff makes me more upset than anything else. what are you dragging his name through the mud for?

I honestly don't know about Kenny

He did bring some pretty uncharacteristic heat in the playoffs in '06 with the Tigers.

Harder than I remember him throwing as a Rangers, which struck me as odd.

But not enough that I can say I "know" like with the Bonds/McGwire-types.

Kenny Rogers

I get ripped on Rogers but Marshall McDougall goes through unscaved? Haha. Rogers, his voice clearly has a higher pitch to it. He had the incident in 05' that could've resulted from, said PEDs. He had the pine tar incident in the playoffs. Which shows that he at least cheated. Now after I said all that, I'm just going on a gut feeling here. Something tells me he's not right. Didn't mean to offend anyone about this.

That Sucks

I think we've all come to expect some amount of cynicism and paid to play head hunter mentality in the biggs and in some other sports, but I hate to hear about that stuff going on in the minors. I've always thought that everyone in the lower levels of baseball was either playing because that's what they love to do, whether it means making millions or not, or they are so crazy competitive and have a huge hunger to make it to the top. It stinks when you get reminded that to some people pro sports is just their job and they care as much about their team as others care about the huge company they work for here in the real world.

and in general

its an unnecessarily cynical view. they don't have to be part of baseball and it behooves the league to protect their players if it really does lead to the ill health effects they talk about.
