Broussard/Shelton splits

I've seen numerous projected lineups suggesting a Broussard/Shelton platoon. Also have seen several suggestions that maybe we will only keep one, and if so, it should be Broussard.

Well, I think if it were me, that I'd keep just Shelton. Why? Keeping both would seem to be the end of both Botts and Cruz, plus Shelton is younger, under control longer, and most importantly -- he is better than Broussard vs. both LH and RH pitching.

career
Shelton -- 281/348/477 -- 115 OPS+
Broussard 267/328/458 -- 107 OPS+

vs. RHP
Shelton -- 286/342/498
Broussard 275/336/470

vs. LHP
Shelton -- 269/363/420
Broussard 227/290/399

Of course, Broussard is a pretty sweet musician, so he has that going for him. Check it out, I dig it:

Yeah...
I'm not really sure why we traded for Broussard.

I'd much prefer Shelton out there (unless there's another unmentionable reason to be skeptical of Shelton's performance)....

I think he performed some sort of voodoo on Daniels to get Broussard here.

yep
for real...

With what we have now, I think I'd prefer a Cat/Shelton platoon anyway, its better at least offensively than Broussard/Shelton, especially if Broussard is garnering most of the at bats.

Rudy Gay sure would look good in red and white...

shelton/broussard
i'm sure someone will say it eventually so i will now.

shelton doesnt have a huge sample size so that may skew it some. however if i had to choose between the two i'd probably take shelton based on age and salary alone

Can you please Look into getting a less funny signature? That's sarcasm, btw. - Sharky

The link
It either doesn't work, or it's too much trouble.

So my question is, how many ABs are we looking at for each player?

pretty good song
try it this way: go to benbroussard.com, then click on the link for "Broussard brings grunge back to Seattle", then click on "listen to live song".  Or something like that.

Curious to hear what you think of the little ditty.

Crossover acts
I've certainly heard worse.

If you're asking my opinion, it could use some tweaking, but, other than the pedestrian shit lyrics, it wasn't bad, except for the little plsst plsst chord thing they did near the end. No big complaints here.

And if i say anything else, pos or neg, I'll sound like an imbearably pompous ass.

Broussard vs. Shelton?
so really this could turn out to be Cruz vs. Botts...and I'd prefer to bring Cat into the picture.  Trade Cat if you can, if not, cut him.  Shelton and Botts can DH, play 1B and fill in for the OF - to me, Cat isn't going to help this team's future, and Botts and Cruz can both turn things around...

Meh
So trade a good, reasonably priced hitter (Cat), in order to keep a mostly proven spare on like Cruz?

No.

bad taste in my mouth
from Cat's start last year...he and Young and Tex really let the team down, they were the vets supposed to set the tone and they failed miserably.  I just think Cruz' athletic abilities (defense) in the outfield and his potential power bat make him more attractive to me than Cat's aging, slumping, defensively inept (comparatively speaking of course) sizable contract.

Personally I like Cat, always have, but that start last year really rubbed me the wrong way, and I think the jury's still out on Cruz, and I want the verdict ASAP.

I also don't think anybody should be writing off Botts yet - so if JD and Wash make that move, I'll be incredibly pissed off
