Keith Law on Herrera

"Danny Ray Herrera ... with a ... curveball right out of the 1940s."

What does that mean?  I've never heard anything remotely similar.

You can hold the space bar down
for a few seconds and avoid the character issue.

I used to do that
but for some reason it no longer works for me.

I have no idea
what that means.  I solve the problem by trying to come up with thoughtful diaries...though I recognize the need to occasionally throw something up quick.

that
is the html encoding for a space.  Just copy a bunch of those into your diary and the LSB server will recognize them as characters towards the minimum limit, but will display them as spaces.

Doesn't...
hardly anyone throw a true overhand curve anymore?  I don't know if Herrera throws an overhand curve, maybe that's it.

Herrera's
curveball is slow, but it is not a Barry Zito type curve. It just looks like a regular curveball. His fastball is about 82 mph, his curve is about 72, and his change is in the high 50s to low 60s.

by uthornfan on Dec 23, 2007 10:47 PM CST reply actions

I think he meant screwball (or change)
The curve isn't a pitch that really stands out.  He's a trick-pitch guy.  Very good screwball, but unlikely that it would be enough at the big league level.  Hard to see him being a contributor in a championship bullpen.

Will
he ever amount to anything?  Probably not...

Says the guy...
with the enormous Erasmo Ramirez erection.

Lol...
2.84 ERA in 6.1 innings pitched last year..

We should have never gotten rid of him. :)

by miles on Dec 23, 2007 11:48 PM CST up reply actions

Erasmo
I've never understood why the Eraser hasn't gotten more of a shot in the majors. I know he throws slop, but he's been an effective pitcher wherever he's been, and has a 3.95 ERA in 114 big-league innings.
"Then I met some friends for a beer, went to a BoDeans's concert, and son of a vondruke, if I didn't leave him at the concert hall."

At once...
Someone feels the same way I do about Erasmo...

He wasn't treated fairly by the Rangers, he would pitch perfection and then be sent to the minors for an entire year.

The guy is a hard worker, I think he still works with his dad cleaning pools.

I think the Eraser was on of the "origonal" beasts.  Ill have to check on that though.

DRH
He's one of the most entertaining pitchers you'll ever watch.  He'll be in the bigs, and I can't wait to see him deal.

That said, you never kill a trade by refusing to include someone like him (esp. when he's still in AA).

We'd have to figure out where
We've got LSB peeps in Houston also west texas as far as Lubbock.

Plus, all the LSB fans all over the US.

This would be a logistic nightmare. We'd have to limit it to Texas I think. Make a neutral site or something. Prolly won't happen. LSB fan base is by far to huge now. Last year maybe... but now I don't see it

True..
But most people live in the DFW area...

The Jamey Newberg fanbase is also big, but they have parties.
