Jim Callis chat
Jim Callis did a chat session today...one of the highlights:
SportsNation Jim Callis: (2:28 PM ET ) Rangers have really restocked their system in the last year via trades and the draft. I loved that deal from the Texas side. I know the Reds have more outfielders than they know what to do with, and I guess they felt like Hamilton's body won't hold up after all the abuse he has subjected it to. But I don't believe in Volquez.

I know I tend to
If it's the former, being concerned about Hamilton's health and not buying into Volquez are off base?
Also, you have to pay to get that stuff as well, just ESPN (or BA).

Yes, I would say so
If you read his chats regularly, you know that his answers in them are generally very brief, with little background for his opinions, mostly because of the pure volume of answers he gives each time, but also because he is on the record for most of these things in other forums and is answering things for the 40th time (as is the case with that trade).
I don't agree with Callis - at least to some degree - on lots of players, but I've found that he is one of the few guys around who I quite often find that when I do disagree, I turn out to be wrong and he turns out to be right. That makes me want to at least respect his opinion. I guess you're welcome to be more suspicious.

also...
for the record
It's a chat
Personally, I don't believe in Volquez as anything other than a back rotation/reliever guy either.
Any Rangers on his top 50
I can't find his top 50 on the Internet

I think you're right
As far as Callis' top 50, I think that the reason he's throwing them out there is that he has finished hit list that is going into the Prospect Handbook, in which each of their main editors give their top 50s as a frame of reference and a preview for their top 100, which is about the last thing that they put out in terms of the seasonal cycle of rankings.

Honestly
And that's coming from a Rangers apologist.
But we sure do have a ton of dudes who fit in the 51-200 range.
