Potential Tigers/Marlins blockbuster
Not sure whether this is just a ruse by the Marlins to smoke out the Angels and Dodgers, or if this is legit...
But Ken Rosenthal says the Marlins and Tigers are talking about a potential blockbuster that would send Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to the Tigers, in exchange for a package of young players that would (according to Rosenthal) presumably include Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller.
Given the Marlins' demands thusfar, it seems like there would have to be a lot more going from Detroit to Florida as part of this deal, and I'm not sure that the Tigers have enough pieces to get a deal done (remember, Rick Porcello can't be traded until August, 2008, so he can't be included).

Nope
Conceivably, they could agree to the trade now, but not make it official until February whatever, and include Porcello as a PTBNL then.
But I don't see that happening.

BUT
What can Willis fetch on his own? Could Willis on his own make up the difference of Maybin/Miller and Adenhart/Wood???

I personally
They would have a stacked system and Adenhart and Hughes would be huge for their future.

Porcello
If so, those players and some cash would be a great trade for both teams.

Buster Olney
I don't think the Angels would have any issues locking Santana up long term. With all they've done to try and improve the team, he would have to be very willing...
Plus, remember the talks about how Santana would be interested in following Hunter? I don't have any link on that.

Bedard News
Potential deal: Bedard goes to the Dodgers, and Matt Kemp and Jonathan Broxton head over to the Orioles.
I've liked Broxton from what I've seen of him, that's a decent haul, but I wonder how much more the O's could get for Bedard.

So then the question becomes...

Well
There's a reason the Twins are still working on this, after sitting up all night with the Yankees and Red Sox fighting over him.
But he's going to set the market. Bedard and Haren will only happen afterwards.
Hard to believe Buchholz never went on the table, if reports are to be believed. Johan freaking Santana doesn't pry him away? Quite surprising.
