More stuff

The Transaction Oracle likes the Shelton trade.

So does Christina Kahrl, in her chat session.

Dave Cameron likes the M's grabbing R.A. Dickey in the Rule 5 draft.  Heh heh heh.

Peter King's unrequited manlove for Brett Favre is embarrassing.  Seriously.  He's like Philip Seymour Hoffman to Favre's Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights.

I'm glad to see someone else feels the same way I do about Jason Krause.  Also, I may have to borrow this guy's bit and do some LSB Airing of the Grievances.

And this is two nights in a row I've turned off the Mavs game because the way they were playing was sucking all the joy out of me.  Does this mean I'm a bad fan?

that hurt the feelings of some players...
So when Washington, in a chance meeting Tuesday, honestly answered a reporter's casual question about the Rangers' interest in Santana and his candid assessment showed up in this newspaper the next day, there apparently was much frowning among the Rangers' brain trust.

"He's on our board," Washington had said of Santana. "But if we give [the Twins] what they want, we'll have nothing to surround him with."

Washington went on to tick off three of the young Rangers players the Twins would demand in any deal for Santana.

i think baseball's amazing due to the technique involved and the amount of work it takes to get to be playing at a high level...
and basketball seems to me like its all rigged and whatnot anyways
of course that could be said about any sport, baseball with steroids etc.
but essentially i just have more fun watching baseball than basketball

Mavs...
Playing unmotivated basketball. They have nothing to prove in the regular season, and they look like they know it. Little effort, not much intensity...But, I think they were 14-7 through 21 games last year, then ripped off 13 straight and went on the ridiculous run to 67 W's...So it's not much to get worried about.

But I don't think you can draw conclusions about this team until April or May. They'll prove what they are or aren't in the playoffs, not the regular season.

by N41D on Dec 6, 2007 10:11 PM CST   0 recs

The Mavs
At least after tonight maybe people realize Dirk playing below his normal average is not the huge problem people are making it out to be.

This team can't play defense right now. That, and that pretty much alone, is why they suck right now.

hey miles
Highland Park tomorrow night :)

hey this asswipe Travis Stewart/TexasFootball.com

thinks West Mesquite is going to win

West Mesquite (10-3) vs. Highland Park (13-0): It's tough to side against Highland Park in this one. The Scots' defense was practically a force of nature last week against South Oak Cliff, forcing a three-and-out on SOC's first two drives, ending the third with an interception and recovering the first of two fumbles soon afterwards. The Hawks' offense hadn't been brilliant to this point in the playoffs, but the Scots' blitzing packages just wrecked havoc on the offensive line, and I expect that momentum to carry into this weekend. Mesquite, however, still must be awake at night after that fantastic 41-34 shootout against Red Oak last week - a game that could've been much different if an unfortunate holding penalty hadn't effectively nullified Oak's chances of tying the game. But you know what? Mesquite has already won as the underdog twice this postseason ... third time's a charm. West Mesquite 28, Highland Park 24.

Awww...
They're not so bad.

The Men's Basketball team went to the dance last year (I went... it was a fun time), and look pretty good again this year.

Plus I think Dodge will be fine.

He inherited a pretty awful team from Dickey, who hadn't been a good coach in several years. It's gonna take some time. At least the team scores this year and doesn't run "Full-Back Up the Middle" on 3rd and 9 anymore.

We'll be back in the New Orleans bowl soon, I can feel it.

Didn't go there, no
But my Dad taught there for 30+ years and was the faculty rep to the NCAA, so he would always take me to all the football and basketball games as a kid, so they became my team. I was also a ball boy for the basketball team for several years.

Plus my college is a shitty D2 school that doesn't even have a football team so I never had any reason to switch allegiances.

But are the alma mater of Clay Bellinger!!!

You can't stop Clay Bellinger.

It is a cool school, yah
Orlando is an awesome city, and Rollins is like 5 minutes from downtown.

I didn't move to Florida beforehand, but Rollins was one of the schools my college counselor recommended, and once I saw their brochure and subsequently visited the campus, I was hooked.

Holy F'ing Shit!!!
The guy who lived next to me in the freshman year dorms made his major league debut last year!

I knew he had signed with a team as an undrafted FA after Junior year, but I had no idea he'd actually made it to the show. I figured he was organizational fodder and had no real shot of even seeing AA.

Holy crap.

Congrats to him.

That's awesome.

Skin
Caller called in about how it'll be like last year, and people are just over reacting. Then he told Skin he doesn't watch basketball. Skin flipped out and proceeded to kill the Mavs about how they need major changes, are playing like crap, have no heart. At one point he even said, maybe they missed their window, and the best thing might be to trade Dirk and try to play for Harris' window.  Kind of hard to paraphrase his rant, but their was a lot of,(Norm like),  yelling.
