Rangers wanted Cabrera
Didn't know we had interest. It apparently hinged on being able to get an extension worked out, but the team wasn't allowed to speak with Cabrera's agent. Glad to see we were involved with other things, though.

More fodder
I agree...
I'm glad it became a non-factor when an extension wouldn't be discussed. Always nice to dream what a Ranger lineup would be like in a few years with him on it, though.
Cabrera
I'm not sure they "took the best deal"
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the LaLa's didn't get Cabrera, but most experts think Detroit way won this deal....as always, time will tell.
Maybin/Miller
A 22-yo lefthander and a 20-yo potential 5-tool CF, both already on the ML level...I can't think of a player league-wide that would net those two. They're better than Lester and Ellsbury.
Actually Detroit's probably taking the risk here, rolling the dice on Dontrelle.

Mets have had eyes on D-train for awhile
How do Miller/ Maybin's major league
Without even mentioning their
Oh yeah, right
well you're in for a ..
looooonnngggg ass nap then.
Let me say this once and for all......
This is so annoying
That's his job, if he isn't doing that, what the hell are we paying him for?
We shouldn't give the Texas Rangers credit for inquiring about moves that we never make.
well
Mistaken assumptions
Two things I'm certain of when it comes to Daniels: He works as hard as anybody in this business, and he believes in being very tight-lipped w/ the media when it comes to potential deals.
I highly doubt they were caught flat footed and unaware on any possible available player. If anything, he can be a little too aggressive.
Fact of that matter is, many of these tidbits are coming from anonymous sources, so their veracity is suspect.
My sarcastic post above
I don't
Interesting quote from that link
Well, that says to me that the Rios for Lincecum rumors were bullshit. One of those stories has to be false, and the Rios one is ALOT harder to believe.
If the Ranger's really......
They would have had 2 years to negotiate a contract extension. You get good by getting good players, however they come....some as FA, some through trades, some develop. But this idea of not trying to get better, 'cause we can't compete 'til 2010.....we'll be looking to 2015 when 2010 gets here.
Stock-piling prospects is great (and JD should be applauded for the quick fix of the farm), it gives you flexability to make deals. But if we think Hurley, Davis, Boggs, Beltre, Tea, Andrus, Main, Kiker & Beavan (etc, etc) are all gonna make it, we're kidding ourselves.
The Ranger's have said they'll only pay big $$$ to star FA's, they need to look at trades the same way. When a star is available (especially with no no-trade, remember we're talking about the Ranger's) they need to piss with the big dogs, if they wanna ever be one.

Who inspired me to troll?
wimpy silly men like you did Ms. Irwin. Anyone who says like you did the other day to "accept losing" has absolutely nothing in common with me. Thats says a lot about how apathetic and weak you are. Theres nothing wrong with being annoyed with this team all they've been doing for years is lose. I'll be the first to applaud when they start making some smart moves and get some where. Weaksister guys like you who want us all to "accept losing" are soooo LAME :) get some balls guy !!
Lmao
Ugh. Can't wait for 2.0.
