lots of good players in there struggling right now. and thats just first baseman (and a few DH).
kind of eases the mind a bit about tex. not much though. is tonight the night he hits a HR >< ?
He's
Teams aren't giving him a chance to hit one out, there pitching around to get to Sosa...
So until Sosa starts ripping it up, Tex won't see much to hit...
You could put
Teixeira can't even hit the many mistakes he does get.
Adrian
I'd love to swap 1st basemen with San Diego.
Really?
by Arnold Babar on Apr 18, 2007 3:23 PM CDT up reply actions
because...
Gonzalez will likely never be as good as Tex was in 2005 but I'm beginning to believe that was Tex's career year and he'll never duplicate that either. I know he won't if he doesn't learn to hit away from the shift.
No

Fair enough
by Arnold Babar on Apr 18, 2007 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions
I seriously doubt

career year
Around that age.
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 7:06 PM CDT up reply actions
well
of course i would keep tex though. but long term you could make an argument.
i do think tex will get it going, i know he will. its just a frustrating wait. the lineup doesnt work when hes not producing.
also, im really tired of the phrase "knee jerk"
about as much
two sides to every argument.
It appears
But it's more a matter of which player you want in your uniform.
by Ed Coffin on Apr 18, 2007 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions
Ed -
If he can't learn to be a contributor for the first 1/3 of a season, and show some indication that he can beat the shift and hit to the opposite field when its given to him, I'll put my money on AG at this stage of their contractual careers.
I was thinking the same thing
by barasch10 on Apr 18, 2007 6:02 PM CDT up reply actions
oh yeah
rod barajas - .077 avg and .368 obp (!!)
kevin mench - .324 avg, .343 obp, 1 HR
adrian gonzalez - .288 avg, .328 obp, 3 HR
francisco cordero - 0.00 ERA, 0.6 WHIP, 5 IP, 9 SO, 4 saves
chris young - 4.30 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, 14.2 IP, 11 SO, 1-1 record
not making fun of barajas or chris young (pitches in a pitchers park...in the NL)
or lamenting the good ones. just was curious.
CY > Padilla
btw Young's 1.84 WHIP.

Good to see Blalock in there
They might say something on the radio show
Kendrick not with the team
On the pre-game radio show...
I don't think Sammy's trot
I think Ozzie is just pissed...
It should make things interesting.
If Sammy wants to make a permanent fan out of me, he should charge the mound and kick Buerhle's ass then point to the dugout and challenge Ozzie.
Now that would be cool.
the trot
I'm pissed...
The NL guys should've broken him of that when he was a youngin'.
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 7:04 PM CDT up reply actions
trot/hop
And if sosa gets drilled i'd expect padilla to drill a few white sox players thursday

1-0 good guys
His arm sure doesn't
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 8:06 PM CDT up reply actions
A theory
He's gone all the way to the back of the box, mid-depth from the plate. That opens up two of the 9 zones in the strike zone box, and results in K's and grounders. He's simply too deep.
Conjecture: if he moved about three inches up (from the back of the box) and an inch "in" (closer to the plate) he'd be back where he was in 2004 - 2005 and making much solider contact when he chooses to swing. I'm not Rudy, but that's what I see and I have no idea why he's so deep now.

Noticing a disturbing pattern.
Can I ask why...
many were sinkers
I don't think Millwood's looked all THAT bad tonight.

yeah...
top of the order due up next
maybe we can get a few hits and score a run. Get some momentum going. We need to get fired up here
and,
Buehrle
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 8:47 PM CDT up reply actions
nah...
We'll atleast f@%k up the no hitter. I'm confident about that.
by hurlerhurley on Apr 18, 2007 8:48 PM CDT up reply actions
that
but i'm pretty sure if such things existed than i jinxed it by talking about it so much. this just sucks. watching this broadcast team tiptoe their way around the no hit call - i'm dreading these last two innings.
damn.. i messed up my reply again
by hurlerhurley on Apr 18, 2007 8:44 PM CDT up reply actions
damn it
Not many teams
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 8:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Better yet
I understand walking Thome
Brings up a great point
Bring in Otsuka for any sticky situation, basically, unless it's in the fourth inning or something.

heh
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 8:57 PM CDT up reply actions
fwiw
oh come on.
i dunno
I'm bitter
"It's not REALLY a no-hitter, Hairston was safe."
actually
No hit and gonna pitch to the minimum.....
laird
Just got back from dinner
Chicago
But we're getting no-hit through 8.
I can't decide which is worse...

That was a nice DP
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 9:09 PM CDT reply actions
This was set to be an awesome sports night for me.
Now I find out Rangers are three outs away from being no-hit. That's putting a damper on my night.
getting no-hit is bad enough
wilson alvarez
Okay
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 9:12 PM CDT reply actions
I'd say
He still needs some work.
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 9:16 PM CDT up reply actions
To make it worse.......
Thank God for Sosa
Meh
wait, lemme think...
good
Agreed
I guess we hear the first rather than the later...then I'll be pissed off.
the headline
anyone giving odds
I don't really see why
The Sox were lucky to get their runs. Millwood blew a gasket for one inning and they took advantage. They sure didn't get much else.
People on this board would be creaming their pants if a Rangers pitcher did this, but an opponent gets no due?
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 9:20 PM CDT up reply actions
I'll give Buehrle his due
This team has been anemic on offense. This needs to be addressed.
I agree
by Dustin on Apr 18, 2007 9:26 PM CDT up reply actions
Great talent; mediocre performance; and.......
you mean
How many players on that team have better than average talent? Teixeira? Millwood? Padilla? Young is a hard worker, but not super talented. Not much else of the position players are that talented. Sosa was talented, but not so much anymore.
Talent
Among the pitchers I see quite a lot of talent.
by Dustin on Apr 19, 2007 4:06 PM CDT up reply actions
watching the Buehrle interview just now
supposedly his leg
if he is down though, thats the mariners season right there.
He seemd fine walking off the field...
"King Felix leaves in first with injury
Felix Hernandez left Wednesday's game in the first inning with an undisclosed injury.
There was no obvious injury. Hernandez was struggling with his command, and the first three batters reached against him before he took himself out. Everyone who likes baseball should be hoping it not an arm problem, but considering that his legs seemed to be just fine as he walked off, it likely is. Apr. 18 - 10:25 pm et"
Pathetic
Embarrassing
Gutless
Sleepless-night inducing
Hells Yeah! No-No!
Rubber-game tommorrow boys!
by Mike Pindelski on Apr 18, 2007 9:40 PM CDT reply actions
don't ever come back again
just saw jamey's flash
If Buerhle cheated
He got away with it.
Thats what baseball is all about.
I don't think he cheated.
Sucks
thursday
With the confluence of the white sox, a no hitter, and getting to face his old friend A.J., I'm sure frustrations will be taken out in a very meaningful way.
