4/26/07 game day thread
11 a.m. start today.
Yahoo Weather says that it is in the 60s in Cleveland, so I'm thinking we'll have a game today...
It will be Kam Loe v. Paul Byrd, as the Rangers try to avoid being swept...
Go Rangers...
Update [2007-4-26 11:35:38 by Adam J. Morris]: -- Lineup up. All the starters, except Wilk is in right instead of Cruz.

What is with the Rangers?
by lwjr on Apr 26, 2007 1:26 PM CDT up reply actions
Yesterday's game.
However, how would you feel if you were a Yankees fan and had an amazing start to the season on offense and had a record no better than the Rangers. I would feel less certain about the Ranger's chances, because that could be seen as an indication that the pitching is much worse than expected. Cat and MY are going to hit .300. Tex is going to hit 35 HR. I seriously doubt Wang is going to be anywhere near as effective as last season. Kei is probably not worth the $25M spent on him. Pavano, unreliable health. Mussina, aging. Hughes could be a savior, or he could get trashed.
It's not unreasonable to think the Yankees may finish third.
Cat
Me too...
When Newberg board is back up, I can look it up. It was fairly compelling, and very worrisome.
Our D.....

washington
wakamatsu
all season wak has been very aggressive with sending runners home, good or bad i think it's probably his judgment call in the moment
I'm not saying he did
Now, that's not to say that Washington wanted Lofton sent in that situation, or that Wakamatsu didn't screw up by sending him.
However, that's why Wakamatsu is going to be more aggressive is sending runners than we've been in previous years.

Just to make today a little bit worse
At least the Mavs won last night
Stuck at work
All stuck on Cat's at bat.

Blalock .243
Kinsler .333
Wilkerson .222
Laird .113
small ball...
Ain't this great?
i don't get what you are saying
doesn't make sense to me
Especially when facing a very good offensive team with our #5 starter on the mound.
Maybe you could explain why you think that is a good move?
yeah
think
by isaacbrock on Apr 26, 2007 12:07 PM CDT up reply actions
give away outs
everyone needs to get
It resulted in a run w/ one on and one out and we got nothing out of bases loaded and no outs.
kinsler bunting??
Washington is killing me....
just because it worked...
well I guess the Rangers
so are you saying
I don't fault management if their logic is sound for the decisions they make, whether the results work out or not. However, if they make poor decisions, sooner or later the results are going to be bad, even if they work out once.
So was it a poor
I don't have a problem
Also, looks like he let Kinsler swing away this time and Blalock still scored without giving an out away.
Get somebody up.

Delucci
Dellucci
He liked the clubhouse, he liked Rudy, he liked hitting in the ballpark - and he is still bitter about it.
Any comments he makes about the club are tainted by his bitterness.
So you honestly think...
That's ridiculous.
You can be upset..

remember his comments at the time of the trade?
dont usually see stuff like that from players.

It's kinda ridiculous
Yeah, he played LF...
I think Crisp hand injury last year really set him back and he can still be a very good player.
Obviously he hasn't done much of anything in Boston, but people forget that he does have some good hitting skills.
as ridiculous as a certain padres trade?
now come on cat, cash this in...
pfft infield popout. i hate our team.
big inning
Byrd....

somethin g like...
i dont think you could get this order to score runs in any alignment right now.
lofton being in scoring position with no outs 3 times and not scoring is just terrible.
There are a couple of guys
our hitters
stranding a leadoff triple
Ugh.
That is pitifully embarassing.
embarassing
lots of things.
I'm all for sticking with the vets
Lofton
Kinsler
Blalock
Sosa
Tex
Wilkerson
MY
Cat
Laird
Sammy B SLAMMY
:) - Obligatory smiley showing I don't mean whatever mean
spiritedness is likely contained in the preceding post

The answer

The answer
Honestly, what's worse. Being a team that people know are going to be bad, and wind up being bad (ie Royals, etc.) or being a team expected to be mediocre and failing at that?
by isaacbrock on Apr 26, 2007 1:30 PM CDT up reply actions
Mahay has walked 4 batters in a row
mahay pitched yesterday too, and CJ didnt throw many pitches (or did he go two innings, i cant remember).. why not CJ instead?

sosa
oops, had html formatting on
avg/obp/slg/ops/rbi
kinsler .333/.462/.580/1.053/20
kata .263/.300/.579/.879/4
sosa .239/.293/.535/.828/18
stewart .300/.364/.400/.764/2
lofton .286/.353/.409/.762/6
blalock .257/.315/.419/.734/6
hairston .292/.369/.333/.702/1
wilkerson .205/.302/.385/.687/6
cruz .245/.322/.302/.624/6
cat .154/.229/.366/.595/7
teixeira .213/.336/.240/.576/3
young .191/.217/.314/.531/14
laird .140/.246/.189/.436/2
those are rough figures, could be off by a couple points, but are ABOUT right. we can be sure that kata and stewarts numbers would probably drop given more at bats...but after what? 21 games, teix has 3 rbi's??? tex has been the 3rd worst hitter...young has been the 2nd and they make WAY more than sosa. he is a bargain as i see it.
