12 k's in 8 innings, putting his K-BB ratio on the year at a much sturdier 24-8. He only allowed one walk and two hits, but both hits were solo homers(one courtesy of Hank Conger), so his ERA actually rises to 2.03. Oh well.
Johnny Whittleman also hit one out.
Is it too early to start the HPK(Hurley-Poveda-Kiker) hype?

Yes
Well
Speaking of Fabio and Tuglet ...

Being speculative a tad ... and considering that Spokane should field more high draftees than usual along with a few highly touted Latin players, I think it's interesting that the Rangers have Tim Hulett managing for all the domestic talent's sake, a Venezuelan pitching coach [Juan Carlos Pulido] for the glittery Latin arms and a P.R. hitting coach [Hector Ortiz] for the comfort of Yan and Paisano. All three are former major leaguers and two speak Spanish. Sound thinking if that's what their intentions were. Or ... could be that those three names were just next in the rolodex.
[If we see some aggressive assignments, that team could be loaded, Jack - can't wait to tune in.]
Interesting
Regardless of how the two SS squads break down, most of these guys:
Fabio Castillo
Michael Kirkman
Matt Nevarez
Jake Brigham
Alberto Martinez
Johan Yan
Cesar Rojas
Eleno Soto
Wilmer Font
Gueris Grullon
Carlos Pimentel
Miguel de los Santos
Cristian Santana
Manuel Solis
David Paisano
and all those picks, including 5 #1s.
are going to be on them. Castillo, Brigham, Yan, Santana, Paisano and Solis, plus those 5-6 prime draft picks, are pretty big prospects and constitute a big chunk of hope. And a lot of those guys, like Brigham, Castillo and some of the picks, should be on that team, at the least.

Rojas was placed on the restricted list, I believe
It is exciting in that this is the year that we'll start seeing all of the big time latin FA signings coming to the US for the first time.

What?
I thought you just said he should've been top 10?
My
- Hurley
- since there really isn't a #2 prospect, I'll be optimistic and cross my fingers on Teagarden's elbow
- Kiker (absence makes the heart grow fonder I guess, although I had him about here before)
- Whittleman
- Castillo
- Mayberry
- Volquez
- Poveda
- Davis
- Botts
