Schilling's blog

I don't know if you guys have read Curt Schilling's blog before, but it's a pretty good read.  I normally can't stand the guy, but he goes way in depth on many aspects of the game and it's kind of refreshing to see such a transparent approach between a star player and the fans.

Anyway, the last post is about his start yesterday, where he breaks down every at-bat for which he was the pitcher.  He's got some nice things to say about Ian Kinsler, as well.

On Kinsler
...who apparently doesn't study pitchers:

I always like to know who does and who doesn't study pitchers.

I find his subtlety amusing.

Schilling's an egotist...
...but an interesting one.  That's good enough for me.

Ghostwritten?
Someone told me that he dictates it and someone else actually writes/manages his site. Anyone know?

I'm pretty
sure it is him.  He was known to be active in many forums, including taunting Yankees fans on many Yankees forums...

He just wants attention, and he will do anything to get it...

schilling
he's also an avid evercrack player, or at least used to be
"Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!" "If you don't throw strikes first, you're last."

Schilling post-baseball
So what does this attention-starved, self-centered windbag do when he retires?  Make Joe Morgan look reticent by comparison in the broadcast booth?  Try to outdance Emmitt Smith?

What do you
and Miles think of BlueGloveLefty?  I mean if this just attention seeking from a guy who already gets a lot of attention for his success, what is it when a non-All Star pitcher makes himself available.

Personally, I think it is great what both of them do.  The friendly taunting of the rival teams fans is just fun.  Too many of the major leaguers have forgotten this is suppose to be fun.

Agreed
I would be thrilled if our ace was this available to ranger fans.

They're a little different
BGL just came on here quietly and started commenting here and there.  Schilling would have started a diary titled "I AM CURT SCHILLING" and, well, no, he would have just started his own blog.

Schilling likes to offer opinions loudly to anyone within earshot, whereas BGL tends to answer questions, happy to share his opinion, but not forcing it on anyone.

I completely applaud Schilling for his blog, I think it's great.  But he sometimes gets a little windy in the clubhouse and any other time he's in public.

I'd always thought (and heard) that
Schilling was a prick, but after reading that blog I have a little more respect for him, not a lot, but a little.

Seems like other players would begin to get an idea of how he might approach them if they read that stuff. Wonder if any of them do?

Agree on both points
The CW promoted by the media on Schilling had me expecting a blowhard when I went to his blog to read his recap - but he seemed like a decent thoughtful sort to me - a little long-winded maybe.  Reading Evan Grant's disrespectful tone toward CS and his blog in the DMN blog really really left a bad taste in my mouth.  Maybe I don't know the whole story.

Schilling:  "I always like to know who does and who doesn't study pitchers."  Does Ian Kinsler realize that opposing pitchers might approach facing him differently if they know he doesn't study opposing pitchers?  At least TALK like you prepare to give them  pause.
