Did You Know (of the day / week / month / year)

Three women played in the Negro Leagues.

Replacing Hank Aaron, Toni Stone played 2B in 50 games and hit .243 in 1953 for the Indianapolis Clowns.

Mamie Johnson pitched herself to a 33-8 record in three years between 1953-55 also for the Clowns.

After selling Stone's contract to the Kansas City Monarchs in 1954, Connie Morgan played two years at 2B.

Indianapolis Clowns?
That's a pretty crappy name.

But pretty good Did You Know.

Forget Johnny Bench, we got Gerry "the Jet" Laird

They
have a long and storied history.  Began as a barnstorming entertainment act, eventually joined the Negro League.  They were the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball for many years, though.

Time does funny things. The worst of which is, it keeps moving when you don't.

Toni Stone? Tawnee Stone.
There's an attractive young "amateur" in the adult entertainment industry from Texas named Tawnee Stone. If you are so inclined, you should check her out. I'm have no idea how I know about this, I'm just sayin...

I wonder...
...if this knowledge might impact the perception that Josh Gibson's "nearly 800" homers is the actual  dinger record...

I wondered the same thing about
Satchel Paige.  There's obviously enough anecdotal evidence to suggest that he and Gibson were great players, but if the level of competition in the Negro Leagues was so low, its difficult to consider their NL numbers on par with the major leagues.
