OT: Champions League Watching Party

Tom Hicks has gone soccer crazy!

He's hosting a free watching party at the AAC for the Champions League Final.

I won't be going, but I applaud the effort.

That's pretty cool. It would be fun. Should be a great match.

That's cool
If it wasn't in the middle of the week I'd go to that.
"Fire Jon Daniels!" Someone has to start it.

Nice
I'm probably going to the Londoner in Addison to watch the match, as it's much closer to where I live, but it's good to know Hicks is trying to market Liverpool FC here locally.

Now if he can somehow arrange an FC Dallas-LFC friendly at Pizza Hut Park!

FWIW, as much as most people locally despise Hicks (and not without cause) he and George Gillett are beloved in Liverpool. Steven Gerrard is about to get a fat new contract, as are several of the team's other star players. I'd love for some of the Liverpool tradition to catch on with the Rangers, particuarly in terms of the team's rabid fan base that demands success.

If we don't win the Champions League, most of us Liverpool fans will consider this a failed season- and we finished 3rd in the league, qualifying for Europe again next year. That's what I want here in Texas- a fan base that considers anything but a championship season a failure. If only the Rangers could find their Rafa Benitez!

"Then I met some friends for a beer, went to a BoDeans's concert, and son of a vondruke, if I didn't leave him at the concert hall."

Damn Time Change
If this wasn't on a Wednesday afternoon, I would be there. It seems like a fun event. Watch the game, have a couple Stellas. I wonder what kind of turn out it will get given the time and day of the week?
